Trouble with my clutch and pinkie button on my X52 Pro.

I've had this x52 pro for several days now and I am unable to bind anything to my clutch button (the "i" button) on my throttle. So I binded "toggle forward/reverse" to my "D" button, and then binded "boost" to "pinkie button + D button" and I was good to go. But somewhere down the line, my pinkie button won't register in game either. I know this is my fault somehow because the other game I'm using this HOTAS for is MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries(yes there are still people that play it online haha). I got it working perfectly for MW4: Mercs but can't get the clutch button and pinky button to work on that game either. And yes, I have two different joystick profiles(one profile for each game).

The profile that I have for Elite Dangerous is just a default profile because I bind everything in game, and I'm thankful that ED is designed well enough for me to do that.

For now, I just rebinded "boost" to the "B" key on my keyboard and called it a day, but I would be very grateful if anyone can tell me how I can get my pinky and clutch buttons to work. They are functioning fine when I test them in the X52 profile editior. If it helps anyone tell me how to fix this, I'm using Windows 10 pro 64 bit.

if your pinkie switch worked and you changed the bind you could back up your existing bindings folder
and then remove it causing the game to replace it with a new default one
then that may tell you were you went wrong when you compare the text in both files
when done replace your old bindings folder back
see my binds guide on how to rename & back up your binds first https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...-free-backed-up-binds-look-no-further.554451/

To get the pinky switch to work you have to remove all the "shift modes" from your ED profile. There's a Clutch switch in the device properties you have to flick to get that working.

go into your joystick settings and make sure the box is ticked next to 'enable clutch mode'

Remove all 'shift' options from your ED profile in the software settings.

The X52 doesn't work 100% with ED as a plug-and-play device. ED seems to have problems with the buttons and things on the throttle. You have to use the X52 profile software to do various settings or use a joystick interface, like the free Vjoy +Joystick Gremlins, that translates any button to a keystroke that ED can understand. It also has a lot of other useful features.

Ok, thanks to everyone here I got my clutch and pinkie buttons working in game! They even work in MW4: Mercs now.

1. When I found out that my hotas somehow resets itself when I unplug/replug it in, doing that caused my pinkie button to work again.

2. How I went about finding the box to tick for clutch was I went to settings/devices/ and then typed in "set up usb" for the "set up usb gaming controllers" option to show up so I can click on it. When I did that nothing happened. Suspecting some kind of crash, I had to reboot my computer for the "set up usb gaming controllers" window to pop up. Anyway, when I finally got that window to popup, I selected "x52 pro" and went to properties, browsed the tabs until I can find the "enable clutch controls" button. ....only thing, is that it was ALREADY ticked! But the pinkie button underneath it wasn't ticked. Since my pinkie button was already working again in game at this point, as an experiment, I 'un-ticked' the clutch button and was able to bind the clutch button to boost in game.

3. I also have this new custom set of in game binds saved in a backup folder I made thanks to advice I got on here as well.

Thanks, all, this game has just become a little more immersive for me! WOOT

Just a word of warning, your clutch checkbox WILL become ticked again, seemingly at random, which is annoying.

To quickly get to the settings again you can press Windows-R (run) then type joy.cpl.

If you have the software from Logitech that looks like this ... the pinkie switch defaults to "shift" to enable 3 more modes ... there's a tiny obscure button on the top right that disables that and lets you map it as a fire 2 button (or whatever you want)

In the list of that "tiny obscure button on the top right" I set it to "Fallback" in modes 2 & 3 which means that unless you have programmed a macro or key presses for that field. It will take the setting from mode 1. It cuts down the work if you use those features.
By the by, ED recognises the "clock" button on the throttle. It can be used like a shift key too.

From another thread: If you put the X52 software into "grid mode", you can delete all the other modes. Then you can program the pinkie.

Mate that's just not true. I have an X52. Plugged it in, bound the buttons, good to go. ONLY binding issue is with the clutch button which I have to frequently uncheck through their rubbish software. But I repeat - you DO NOT have to use any other software other than the driver software (X52 H.O.T.A.S. Properties) which I run via joy.cpl but you can get there via control panel

You can unbind that from joy.cpl or windows game controllers under advanced properties / MFD and it should remember your settings then.

Oh! you have managed to bind the buttons on the throttle base?
I would be happy to learn how.

I have the throttle base buttons bound to lights and cargo hatch. Not the last one since it bugs me that it turns the stopwatch on/off.
