Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Jointly awarded?!

Yeah, I guess SC dominates the debate too much, yet it's unreleased and not actually a widely played mmo by their readership, so they can't ignore it, but they can't afford to put it alone at the top, they need a traditional released game there too to which people can relate.

And another award for SC, this one for the second year in the row, retaining the title (with a different joint winner): https://massivelyop.com/2020/12/19/massively-ops-2020-awards-worst-mmo-business-model/

Guess who jumps to the rescue in the comments section? :D
He does make a good point that a fair few concierge started off with a standard $45-$60 game package and added to it over a period of years rather than spent big amounts all at once...I know a couple of concierge that got their admirals club admittance via subscriptions alone...in one case, the guy only had an Avenger Titan starter ship package which runs at $60 or so. Paying a $10 or $20 sub every month for a few years will get you there just the same :)

Yeah, even a tenner a month goes a long way to alleviate a mortgage over the years. I'm torn by the award tbh. In a way it's the best business model ever. :p

Oh @sovapid - there is a guy here i'd like to introduce you to

See but that's just it, at it's core Star Citizen Isn't competitive. Yes there is PVP available for those who seek it out, sure. But there is no "winning" or "losing" star citizen.

So, apparently, nobody is going to blow your up unless you seek it out! Something something consensual PvP. :p

Perhaps CIG need to look at that PvP slider again :D

paying a subscription for a buggy pre alpha tech demo is so dumb!

Personal opinion. Theres a lot of alpha games out there who already deserve a purchase or financial support but if its the right thing for you to part with your money comes down to your preferences, taste and if you get your moneys worth out of it. Lots of hobbies out there are "played" by grown men who pump thousands and massive amounts of time into their preferred activity while the rest of the broader population looks at them and shake their collective head (RC, cosplay etc). I dont see anything else in SC but a scam but that doesnt mean that everybody sees it my way. Some people here have provided a perspective or view on the matter that makes their actions at least understandable, without driving the "why you hating lol" routine and I m not going to refuse those people their enjoyment.

I would have the same problem I have with SC with RC for example if a RC hobbyist would come out of the woodwork to laugh at me for not doing it or when I d say I dont see the use in it. SC discussion usually heats up because there is is this drastically opposite perception of quality and each side being unable to ignore or accept other views on that matter. Well...at least I know I dont have a problem with people enjoying Star Citizen for what it is and what it provides. I know for a fact that a lot of people have a problem with me not liking Star Citizen tho. So all the "hate" and toxicity seems to be distributed very one-sided in this equation. And it doesnt matter if you stay civil and polite if what you bring to the discussion is so detached fromr reality or wrong that you "make it a problem" when there is none. This goes to all the people who think they "have to defend SC against criticism" for no good reason.
