The update following Odyssey is...

I think you will find it will be a slow and rather haphazard stream of patches and ham fisted balancing attempts followed by a year of silence on all the new mess and old mess and then.. we might get a new ship.
At least, with Frontier not being an alleged AAA studio, they are unlikely to have their product removed from Console stores a week or so after release... or at least, not with as much fanfare :ROFLMAO:

Personally, I'm having a great time with this so called "mess" of a game.

As to the next update afterwards, I'm hoping space EVA missions, which can include looting and scavenging from wrecks in space.

Thats' not fair, 1 studio knows what they want to do just but is a bit bland at implemetation, the other is a magpie that wants ALL the shinies just because why not!
wait.... is this about CDPR or CIG I'm confused:sneaky:

A gradual thickening of atmospheres, a gradual introduction of more plant life...maybe an introduction of animal life eventually (which will probably require some form of water somewhere)

...but I’m not sure I can ever imagine running water, Earth-like worlds with cities etc. I don’t think the game engine will be able to cope with this, but who knows...

The ability to disable targeted space ships, breach their hulls with explosive charges and EVA across to them and if you manage to kill the pilot and crew, the ship becomes a part of your inventory or you get a salvage payment for it.

edit : just read Max Factor's post ( I really should get this reflex spamming under control and read before posting) so that gets a thumbs up from me.

You should know this so well, Max... But I'll explain it again...

There are many of us who enjoy this amazing game called Elite: Dangerous... We also look forward to new content with some positivity as we will have even more to enjoy!

Then there are those sad folk who do not have the game they thought it was, or who consider that the developers are unable to produce interesting content. Tha truly surprising thing, though, is that these masochists continue to involve themselves in something that has proven so disappointing to them, rather than being happy doing something else 🤷‍♂️

At this point we don't know the scope of EDO. Does it include Thargoid conflict on foot, if not then I would expect that next.
After that there are 3 prongs to attack and I would anticipate the following order.
1. Extending the variety of landable words and then their content (life/animals)
2. Extending the variety of places for on foot gameplay (Stations/planet cities etc)
3. Ship on foot gameplay

The problem with ship on foot is that they would need to do every ship and that is a lot of work or they go for selling it as an individual ship expansion and focus initially on walking around the ship and then the gameplay when there are enough ships.

Next update: Interiors. Especially ship interiors, not only our ships but NPC ships, derelict ships, destroyed ships, abandoned ships, facilities satellites, etc. Once we have interiorsm we can finally have EVA activities in space, boarding wrecks, abandoned ships, piracy, search / investigation of lost ships, recovery of damaged ships, salvage of wrecks (ships, satellites, installations, etc), rescue from ships and other facilities. As bonus, more complex planet types, like water worlds, lava worlds, denser atmospheric worlds with weather phenomena, etc.

The original major milestones left are (using my paraphrasing of the full originals):

A. Ship Legs

And

B. All the rest of ‘Richly detailed planet surfaces’

So it’ll be one of:

  • A.
  • More of B.
  • A and some of B.

Though given the clamouring, it’s certainly not inconceivable that they’ll seperate out Ship Interiors from A and do that as its own thing separate to the rest of Ship Legs. Not the best thing to do in terms of the development and release of the whole lot IMHO, but people have been demanding it. Equally, if they do the Interiors without the rest of Ship Legs they’ll cop a lot of flak for that too, so who knows! 🤷‍♂️
