My ED cockpit, almost finished

So my dear commanders
when I'm not playing Elite Dangerous in my virtual cockpit with the Pimax 5K, I'm sitting in this cockpit.
... hmm I cannot upload any pics..

The images are originally bitmaps (that ED clings to for no good reason) have to be converted to jpegs, and then to be less than 1MByte. Either convert and scale them in a photo editor, or use an external site as suggested above.

I'm of the opinion that for a game like Elite, VR is better than a physical cockpit. On the other hand, I think that for a game like Flight Simulator, a physical cockpit would be better than VR, especially if you spend most of your time at altitude. There's something about touching real knobs, buttons, and switches that VR just can't replicate.

Someday when true 3D light field displays are perfected, we'll be able to have the best of both worlds!

I do both physical and virtual cockpit simultaneously, sorta.

I have an Openwheeler gen-3 racing seat with all the hotas attachments (Warthog set and TFRP pedals for MSFS and T.16000m set for ED) and Logitech instrument panels and a keyboard mounted up front. I got the setup for Flight Simulator, but it’s not like I’m going to move everything somewhere else to play a different game. I just loosen some knobs and swap out hotases (when you log 1200 hours on one while essentially blindfolded, you don’t try to relearn everything on a new one).

It’s not a full cockpit, mind you, but with the way the seat and rigid side mounts for the hotas, it sure feels like it with the Rift on.

We all know mines the best cockpit;
