Galnet Update 22 DEC 3306 - Investors Take Control of Lakon Spaceways

Volkswagen Audi Group, car manufacturing group that owns a number of makers, they use the same "hulls" (chassis), deck em out with the same "modules" (engines/transmissions ect) and dependant on the make (skoda, volhswagen, audi, bentley, lambo) will be skinned accordingly and priced to suite

Gotcha - I was trying to think of a game acronym definition, so I get you now :)

Not to rain on the wish fulfilment

But even if CD buys Lakon, there is no reason why they wont just keep the Marques separate and business as usual.

No reason for hybridization of exisitngs ships as they are brands to different market.

“It’s no coincidence that the board members being voted out are the same ones who were against Core Dynamics owning the company. I am convinced that Rochester’s people are bribing or threatening our shareholders to make sure this hostile takeover goes through.”

And people call the Empire evil? What Hudson can't have, he takes via a proxy.

Maybe the Alliance will want to invest in Gutamaya maybe?

My first thought after reading that was 🤮, followed by the realisation that the Alliance could teach Gutamaya how to build medium-sized ships.

two ship builders who each have no imagination in ship design joining forces to create the ultimate flying brick.

I dont get how any other manufacturer hasn't put both of these companies out of business. Aside from core dynamics making some military ships for the fed, they dont offer anything meaningfully unique or particularly advantageous in design. Any child could design just as functional a ship and look probably the same.

in fact, Fdev hasn't really given the elite universe any reason why any of these ship manufacturers haven't consolidated into a single company. The ships from one manufacturer to the next dont have anything unique about them. The only thing justifying the existence of each company is apparently unalienable IP rights and a lack of any kind of ability for startups to get into the market. That and military contracts to a couple.

Remember it is Winter's party that has the Family connections to Core Dynamics.

Come to think of it, the Federation did have a big contract with Lakon for Diamondbacks to patrol for Onionhead.

That was done by Hudosn who chose Lakons' DBS over Core Dynamics offerings

The Rochesters are very connected to recent story arcs.

Isolde - The link for Winters' party.
Jupiter - Well... core dynamics CEO doesn't get more connected than this.
Jordan - Interestingly, one of the NMLA attacks was on Cemiess, and there was hint of insider knowledge to have made it possible for NMLA to further intercept and kill Aisling's father Harold Duval at the time.
Juno - With the current Federation Fleet Admiral Lucas Vincent locked away due to the Starship One incident, I believe there's a chance Juno becomes or already is the new one. I don't think we've had a galnet article yet updating us on that.

I just had a odd thought...

if they merge the assets of the two companies...

This may be a strategy from Frontier to discontinue the less popular ships from the game. its often done in real buyouts... keep the best... drop the worst and maybe the worst from the purchaser as well
