After FC decommissioned, on board ships float in space

Not sure how many ppl know this so thought I’d share. After deciding to take break from game, sold all optional services and decommissioned FC ( scheduled decom that is, since game doesn’t let you insta-decommission and flags for later in week)

Flew my Cutter to nearby star port, then paid transfer for all ships + modules on FC. Logged off and went on break. But I forgot had parked all my 2nd account ships on same carrier.

Sp what happened? Did the game send those ships to nearest port as advertised? Nope. Maybe because it wasn’t ships/modules belonging to owner of the decommissioned FC, but those ships on my 2nd account which was set as Friend status with full privileges, etc on FC were just left floating in space where my FC had been.

When I came back from break, and logged into 2nd account, find myself just floating in space. Jumped to nearby port and wondered how do I retrieve other ships? Fortunately, Transfer ships option still worked. Even though my ships were just floating in space, I was able to transfer from dead space to the port I was at the 9 other ships my decomissioned FC had left floating in space.

basically, if you hitch a ride on someone’s FC, better fly off and transfer everything before you go on break bc if that FC jumps thousands of LY away, you will have to manually make way back in whatever ship you were last in (since can’t swap ships in space), and pay to transfer at whatever huge cost the fee from some place like colonia back to bubble.

All ships are supposed to be transferred to nearest station. Least thats how I understood it.
Did you get most of your money back ?

This is pretty fascinating. When you logged into your second account and found yourself floating in space, could you see the other 8 unoccupied ships you own also floating around?

That’s what I had understood the mechanism to be - all ships/modules auto relocated to nearest port on decommission. But it didn’t do that for my alt 2nd account.

On my main account I owned and decomissioned FC with, I -assume- it would auto relocate but don’t know that because I manually flew out and transferred all ships / modules before doing decom step.

I got all credits except the normal decommission fee after the decom went through. Best I recall it was scheduled for later in week but I didn’t bother to logon to check. After many months break, when I came back, I saw my credit balance was increased by the 5B or so. Minus the misc fees for final maintenance which wasn’t much and the fixed decom fee which as I recall was pretty significant, like between 100-200mil or so.

nope, that would have been awesome to see, like a floating ship graveyard, but what I got was logged into normal space in the same location/system my decommissioned FC had been with the last used ship I had flown on that account.

as I was just floating there, in my short range python with no guardian booster (local mining setup). I would have been screwed if hitching a ride on some random FC that ended up outside the bubble instead of my own which was parked at one jump from Diaguandri.

I worried about my other ships all the way back to port, but was relieved to see them in transfer list even though they weren’t docked anywhere to transfer from. I guess whoever does the mysterious ship transfer service had to shuttle some pilots out into space, use the Odyssey suits we don’t have yet, board my ships in vacuum, and fly taxi them back for me.

Sounds like a networking or database update problem of some sort, how soon after decommission did you log on? It certainly should be reported, the FC taking a week or more to decommission is understandable, to give other players time to get off and sort themselves. I mean if you traveled to BP on a carrier with the intention of exploring the area for a few weeks and the FC decomissioned and vanished within a matter of minutes or hours while you were logged off it might be annoying to suddenly find yourself back at Sag A*

But leaving ships behind in space? Not supposed to happen.

It was literally months between decom and logging back on. I decommissioned before all the new balance passes happened, last summer or so, call it ~5-6 months break.

out of paranoia I manually took care of all my main account ships/modules but totally forgot 2Nd account was parked on FC too.
