Landing on/in another ship, while it's in flight; just off the top of my head: Space Engineers, Empyrion Galactic Survival, Dual Universe, Avorion
Yea I know, but not in this way, be serious, walking out your ship, going to the other cockpit with that detail, no

In X2 you could dock ships, i presume by X4 you can dock and walk around as well.

I guess this is just another case of some SC backers living in a bubble where they are not aware of what you can do in other games.

It looks like the article is actually more focused on discussing the pitfalls of Kickstarter more than what happened with SC. The author does not even realize/mention that SC got its own crowdfunding platform after the initial 2 millions in Kickstarter.

Nah, they're just blatantly ignoring what you can do in other games...par for the course ;)

Its always the same.

It starts with the ignorance (feigned or real) of what other games can do.
Then comes the ever expanding list of criteria that they want from a game that strangely only includes things that SC does that other games don't have while avoiding mentioning the things that other games have that SC doesn't.
The next step then is to start talking about things SC doesn't have yet (maybe they will be honest enough to acknowledge it doesn't exist yet) but they will talk about it as though its a sure thing rather than something that may or may not happen. They fail to acknowledge that other games could also have those things if the developers decided to add them. Ambition doesn't mean something exists.
And finally, if they are countered on all points, they fall back on to that magical word, fidelity!

Finanacials for UK are released.

Had a good laugh at the risks section. They note the cost risks for being able to deliver the game. They fail to mention the biggest risk - Chris Roberts.

They mention Covid as adding risk but i don't think they acknowledge that its probably thanks to Covid that they had such a good year of funding, with people being trapped at home, spending less elsewhere, and probably dumping more into SC. (correction, they do kind of touch on this a bit later).

I'm no expert on the financials side, but it seems to me they said that in the 2019 business year they only had a profit reserve of 1 million after a loss of 1.9 million for the year. That it was the Calder's second investment that gave them some breathing space. If i'm understanding that right, that should be downright scary for backers.

the company furthered its strength as a AAA game developer

LOL... games released = 0

Oooh, signed by Erin! He's alive!

@Yaffle - any chance you can put on your accountant's head and give a TL;DR?

Just scrolled down, seems like they are saying they had 20 million in the bank at the end of 2019.

Did you play SE or EGS? Because it's absolutely the case. And with the perk that every single part of the ship has a structural'functional point, it's not just a 3d model. Heck, you could even EVA to the remote ship, hack its hangar door open, then go back to your ship and land before walking to the new ship's cockpit. Or its engines, or pressurisation control, etc. Because every system is effectively physicalised and bound to be somewhere.

"During 2020, the Company further strengthed its position as a AAA game developer by acquiring a perpetual licence for CryEngine from game development platform provider Crytek GmbH"

So I'm guessing that was part of the court settlement in early 2020? I wonder how much that cost.

So basically not the slam dunk backers were claiming.
