Thoughts on prehistoric kingdom?

First just let me say by posting this I’m by no means trying to disrespect frontier or violate forum rules. I’ve supported planzoo from the beginning and will continue to do so till the end. So what does prehistoric kingdom have to do with planet zoo a lot imo. It’s the first and only game that somewhat offers a form of competition for PZ. And arguably looks to be a very well done thought out game like PZ. I’m sure the devs from both games can admire the work each company has put into there games. So with that being said what are your thoughts on prehistoric kingdom and what features are you hoping for and looking forward to? The point of this thread is not to put one against or ahead of the other just general thoughts on the title. I know this a planet zoo forum but I hope frontier will let me keep this thread. Like I said I will support PZ till it’s end but I also believe these two games will bring out the best in each other and definitely look forward to PK and the continued support of PZ.

It looks absolutely amazing. I love we will have one game dedicated to living animals and one for extinct creatures. Its way better than mixing the two.

PK has some amazing things like resizing objects or the quite advanced aviaries. I also like how open the devs are about the development process. They share what they would like to do in the future like the marine creatures and so on.

There is no way I would stop to play PZ, but I really like what they do with PK, so I will play both.

I can't wait to try it, even if i'm not really into dinosaurs. Can we talk about the 32 different terrain textures? and the path system? The 3d models and The various skins for dino? The only downside for me is the look and the movement of the guests, they are like zombies, i prefer the PZ cartoonish style, but it's ok, they can still improve it. Other than that it's a game that i will buy for sure and some competition will be great for both games, even if like others i will not stop to support and play PZ.

I backed it on kickstarter several years ago and I'm super hyped about it. They clearly looked at the other games on the market (PZ and JWE) and learned from the problems those games had. There are several features I wished PZ had, like a brush to paint vegetation.

Original Frontier stated it would creat original Ip . Like Planet Coaster. The could have created Planet Jurrasic. Instead they made film tie in requiring the licensing. It always interesting from business marketing view . Original v Licenced.

We could have had an Elite Lego version...

movement of the guests, they are like zombies,

If you take a close look at people behaviour in supermarket trains...

Atari brought out Roller coaster tycoon around the same time as PC.
Frontier has published the previous coaster tycoon game by Chris Sawyer.

Competition is supposed to be good.

In all fairness, I hardly think PK will have any impact on Planet Zoo.

The creative building game genre is already a niche in terms of gaming. The vast majority of gamers do not play this type of game. On top of that, a zoo building game is already another niche. To really enjoy it, you have to like animals as well, and so we end up in a niche of a niche. Of people who like zoo games, there's always been a minority that also likes dinosaurs. Literally was the case with ZT1, it happened again with ZT2 and with Planet Zoo the vast majority are again not keen on adding extinct animals to the game. So we're at a niche of a niche of a niche.

The only two popular games in that genre up till now have been JWE and JPOG. And those are tied to the Jurassic Park franchise, something you shouldn't underestimate. They've vastly outperformed the only two somewhat well known dinosaur park building games, being Parkasaurus and Dino Island.

As much as I like PK and what they're doing (I've backed them to an early alpha tier), I just don't see it being a competitor to Planet Zoo. It's a dinosaur game first and foremost, and then it's a zoo building game. The majority of zoo game players don't like dinosaurs, so they're just two different audiences.

I think this has been posted multiple times already, but the guests were a last minute addition to the trailer and were only just in the game. The devs themselves said in the stream that went along with the trailer release that they were aware, but that they didn't want to film the trailer in an empty park. So there's no need to worry about the guest animations, those were always going to be improved.

I am very much looking forward to it. It looks to be a fun game with the choice of prehistoric creatures they have in store, not just the dinosaurs. I have been keeping tabs on it since 2015 and I am really happy with how much it has grown. Since their kickstarter, there has been the Mesozoica disaster, the launch of Jurassic World Evolution, The launch of Parkasaurus, and the Launch of Planet zoo, so it feels wholesome to see Prehistoric Kingdom being so close to release after all this time.

Now that Prehistoric Kingdom is gathering pace and getting more coverage I didn't know if this thread was worth a revival. Sorry Frontier...... But my thoughts are.... Whilst the scaling and stretching of construction pieces looks absolutely amazing...... What a damned blatant rip off and I hope that somewhere Frontier have an Intellectual Property case for UI design 😁

Typical early access release full of bugs and will never be the product that was advertised as usual in early access games 95% of the time. It surely will be fun but it will have problems. People treat it like its holy. They will learn once again nope. I would be surprised if it comes close to planet zoo. Planet zoo with a dinosaur dlc a big one. Would make s fortune for frontier. And the Folks still would also buy jwe2. Dinosaur video gamers are thirsty for games 😝

Got the Early Access Version on Christmas and I really love it, even though it's still far from being finished. One really awesome Thing I've just noticed when one of my Mammoths was laying down, is how advanced the Fur Shaders are. They are actually afflicted by Gravity.
Was already following the Developement of the Game Years ago and also played two old Demo Versions when they were still available, so it's really great to see how far they've gotten and to be finally able to play a newer Version. One of the Things that I love the most about the Game, is that they try to make each Animal as scientifically accurate as possible.
I also quite enjoy the Nigel Marven Commentary about each Species and was chuckling a bit when there was a Prehistoric Park Reference in one about the Woolly Mammoth 🤭
