Why were LTD prices nerfed, anyway?

Honest question. Nobody mined them anymore anyway, since they had become so uncommon. Basically the only way you actually encountered them was cores or from NPC piracy. And for Cores their price was perfectly reasonable, and for piracy...did anyone really think npc piracy needed a nerf?

Why nerf their prices after getting them had been nerfed so hard so recently?

Why nerf their prices after getting them had been nerfed so hard so recently?

Guess because:
everyone complained that mining ruined the game (it didnt based on the number of Carriers purchased at FC launch).
FD cant balance something without nerfing something else
And mostly because Demand (too low and to slow to recover) and Bulk Sale Tax (affecting precious minerals way more than other commodities)

Cause FDev loves to Nerf things into the ground.

IMHO Fdev left the prices of VO's, LTD's, Painite, Tritium, and other things 'too high' (their words not mine) so they could show off the Fleet Carriers on the big ED YouTubers channels. Once that was done (mission accomplished), FDev started Nerfing mining one type of mineral at a time, Icy Ring deposits, Deep Core, VO's, LTD's and finally Painite. Then to top it off they wrecked the supply/demand setup in the bgs, end result mining took a HUGE NERF. And the price of a FC set at 5 BILLION during the super high mining prices is still there, but it would probably take 5-10x (my best guess) the amount of time mining today to get the same mining $$$ as it did in May or June of this year.

Make sure you tell FDev how you feel about it.

FDev are simply rubbish developers. They go for the easiest solution (nerf) and balance (read nerf) everything below any reason. After the last nerf INARA suggest that I will be able to purchase my very own FC in three years... If FDev thinks I will be here after lockdown they are delusional... But hey, we are getting space legs...

As a new player I was able to get almost 5 billion credits with minimal effort, only had to get a medium ship out there with like 8 cargo and fill it before I was able to upgrade to a T9.
Three days later I had enough for a FC.
It made the difficulty of the game trivial, I got RL friends to play and made them all billionaires overnight.

Having access to Jameson and enough money to never care about running out really isn't very dangerous

Yeah, can do that but my idea of the game is to actually play the game not to have second badly paid job...

ED's economy is totally artificial. FD selects certain minerals to be valuable, wait until it begins to settle as the new riches meta, nerfs it and repeats the process.

You will like it CMDR

I feel that all that was needed was fixing the infinite regeneration bug and then the price nerfs wouldn't be needed.

But we got both. Plus the other mined commodities getting buffed was definitely a plus - some other stuff is very profitable now.

However, this leaves trading with even more weird patterns. Many minerals are too profitable to trade even at zero demand. Infrastructure failures are giving some pretty profitable things to buy from (shouldn't it be a bad state?). Stuff paying too well at zero demand is a huge issue that was already happening with agronomic treatments at boom & investment states.

To make people use rocky rings for once... and move the load on the instance servers..
Metallic is where painite, platinum and osimum are... Allready in heavy use
Ice rings had LTD and VO... in heavy use..
No body was using Rocky rings... So Nuke ICE rings and those miners who don't ready updates would stay in ICE rings and those who read updates notes would go to rocky rings... and get more credits per hour...

It works many who look up mining now get out of date videos or posts and will get empty instances when they go mining... they in time learn to look on other sites and read about the updates...
