Can't buy Tritium in Colonia from Stations for love or money, FDEV Please Fix

There is almost no tritium available in any of the stations in the Colonia region and the scant stations that sell it only sell it in very small quantities---less than 50t generally. That is a real problem for CMDRs who need to refuel their Fleet Carriers quickly in order to launch their next expedition.

Is there any way to boost the availability of tritium on stations in Colonia? I'd like to see availability on stations that currently sell it boosted by 10x current levels and I'd like to see more stations sell it. I noted that no ground installations sell tritium in the Colonia region, so perhaps they could start selling tritium too?

This was discussed fairly recently, consensus seems to be your best bet is to go mining for Tritium or be prepared to pay a premium for it from other carriers anywhere other than the bubble.

Well, I'm not as clever as @Ian Doncaster by a long way - but it appears to be functioning as intended for the population size of the stations etc.
But there is limitless Tritium just a laser away...
(There just happens to be a stupid number of FC's for the size of the colony though...)

Basically yes. Colonia is a small economy with a population less than some large cities today. Not enough to support the carriers that are there now, never mind the CG arrivals.

It's easy enough to get tritium for the day to day around Colonia though. Going back to the bubble requires patience.

Good news is I've managed it after buying my carrier in Colonia.

...if you're making that big of an investment of time and money, you probably should figure out whether it's worth it, first.

It takes about 5000 tritium to get to colonia according to spansh and 3500 to get back. That leaves you about 17,500 to sell.

Assume you buy for 40k each, that means your total investment going in is 1.04b, so to break even you'd need to sell for 60k each, assuming zero profit margin and you value your time as worthless.

At 80k each you'll make a profit of about 350m, in exchange for about 30 hours of jumping there and back plus probably 5 hours loading the thing up, or about 10m/hour profit.

Up to you whether that's worth it, I guess.

Most are selling for around 150k or more. I don't doubt these are getting good business as they're the only game in town if you're looking for a simple purchase.

Colonia, to me at least has always been portrayed as the 'frontier', the wild west of the game. You know, populated by the brave and hardy, ekking out an existence away from the maddening crowd - that sort of thing. Now of course all of this is hearsay because I haven't ventured there yet, was warned off going there because I fitted a KWS and/or a ADC and they where KOS modules to some who called that bit of space their own fiefdom.

Anyway, to me it stands to reason that certain things would be hard to get there, and fuel for this new fangled carrier would be one of those. These hardy pioneers at Colonia wouldn't need to buy fuel for their carrier, they would go out and mine it, you know, the manly (or womanly, or well gender non-specific) way, none of this easy just buying the stuff, that is for those greenhorns in the bubble (now referred to as the 'East' lol).

The days of KWS murder are likely gone now... Things change, not always for the better.

If you fancy a visit to the Nebula and take in the sights / engineers, I think my FC "Famine" will be ferrying some passengers to and from soon if you'd like to come along...

Nothing to fix.... as plenty others have mentioned, Colonia is small... there's a mere dozen odd refineries, with the biggest at a meagre 250k, but most at 50,000. Given trit is a high value commodity, it's market scarce like all other high value commodities. (lol LTDs....)

But hey sure, let's bust the economy even more by having trit be vastly available hey?

Prior preparation prevents proverbial poor performance.

They don't sell Tritium in the bubble either. Not sure why it's orbital only ... not that it would make any significant difference out in Colonia if it was added to surface economies too.

Yep. Lots of demand (for trade and missions too, not just carrier fuelling), relatively small supply, and Tritium regenerates supply relatively slowly. But there's still plenty if all you want to do is move a carrier around the nebula rather than long distances away from it.

The bubble is huge and has some huge refineries in it, so while the occasional station here and there might run out the bubble as a whole is in no danger of doing so.

One of the few commodity/place combinations where the supply is used up quickly enough not to be pinned to 100% full most of the time. And it's quite a bit more useful than Palladium, so it generates some gameplay for player-run tanker services too.

It's unfortunate, because Colonia is better placed than the Bubble to be a base of operations for deep-space expeditions to much of the galaxy.

Even though I've still never mined tritium, I agree with those who say that mining it should be adequate for moving a Carrier around within the Colonia region, because it's so small (actually my Colonia alt's Carrier has so far only made two small jumps since arriving in the region, not much need to move the Carrier at all when ships from the Carrier can get anywhere local in 1 or 2 jumps).

But if you were planning to head out into the black with 23,000t of tritium in your hold, you have to buy from other Carriers and pay a high price. Or send another Carrier from the Bubble to top-up your expedition Carrier before it leaves.
