I'm not sure how you imagine that actually working in real life. Bosses tend to get annoyed with things like that and if the bosses don't deal with it, the shareholders will let their displeasure be felt towards the bosses.

Hush... I've had folk posting here getting very hurt when I told them I'd won (for exactly that reason) - it is obviously a very hurtful thing to say!

The same in RL, in a debate when one attacks the other rather than the subject it is an attempt to divert away from failure.

But, fora are more often than not just fun debates and most members remain light-heated, which more than makes up for the oddities that occur.

Possibly the Pandemic is making some of us a little less resilient than previously, that isn't unexpected.

I think most people here on the forum have no other way of communicating about the game, the forum is a minority of the playerbase and others outside of it usually just use it put their problems on it and not to have funny chats with others.
Maybe make a Discord for similiar minded people and go have a fun discussion there. Can also make your own rules for whats a Win and a Loss in a internet debate

IKR, how friggen weird is that, people who enjoy the game on the game's official forum. Don't they know they shouldn't be here

Sometimes I wonder why some people linger around a forum of a six year old game exclusively to throw mud and bricks at the devs at every single opportunity. Certainly six years is enough to decide is the game is worth their attention or not, and if not, move on.

I don't mean the people who disagree with anything on any given topic, or think some particular feature should be different / improved etc, or the people who feel disappointed with a delay or are annoyed at some unattended bug. I mean the ones that never, ever have anything good to say about anything in the game and every post is just to throw mud and bricks at the devs, and to say how the game is utter crap and the devs are completely incompetent.

If someone truly believes the game to be utter crap and the devs completely incompetent, which is as valid opinion as any other, but yet linger here after all these years just to keep beating the horse themselves have long killed, it might be time to seek some professional help...

And if someone else actually enjoys the game, even if just parts of it, yet gets his kicks out of loudly badmouthing at all times the very people who made that enjoyment possible, they might need to re-examine their way to interact with the rest of the world.

I attribute this type of behaviour to the popular YouTube channels where the talking head is always perpetually angry and will only find fault with whatever game/movie/TV show they are discussing. They know that being 'angry' is firstly a lot easier than actually researching the topic and discussing both the good and bad points, and that the feeble minded are easily entertained by someone screaming obscenities. So those of the weak willed see this type, see that these people are 'popular' and jump on places like this forum and try to emulate their heroes. And if things don't go according to their plan, they quickly resort to labelling, like calling anyone who disagrees with that as a white knight.

What they don't realise of course is how transparent and well utterly stupid they look with their loathing. Most are easy to catch out, in one post they proudly stating they have never played the game or the aspect of the game they are raging about, they next they are quoting their latest troubles with the very same thing. Hang on we all say, one of your statements can't be true - and we all get called white knights for our troubles. Oh some are creative, managing to insert their favourite rant into any discussion, it is interesting to see how their minds can link such dis-similar topics to bend to their will.

But they do have their uses, without their poorly researched rhetoric these forums would be kind of dull and they do make for some utterly hilarious reading with my morning coffee

My take on things is that the game is exceptionally good at being exactly what it is (well over 4,000 hours played currently) and is enjoyed by many for being so. There appears to be a minority for whom the game has 'drifted' away from their 'ideal' and have became disenfranchised with it, but are uncomfortable with those who are making the most of the game.
(I have had to choose my phrases carefully, there are some for whom my every utterence is unwelcome)

i dont know, thats why i dont care.
You dont see me posting my bullcrap under every post written here.
Most forumetes here seem to care like theyve been the one being assaulted.
I doubt Fdev need em to "protect" them or something.

What i care about is telling people to play in a specific way and not just let them play how they want. if they complain, let em.
Or saying just because someone watches a Youtuber and then complains is "weak willed". Or "play something else" because theres a part of the game that is disliked.
You wont change them like they cant change you.

You are of course right, there were specific forumites that were foremost in my mind when penning that brief missive but forum rules forbit me actually calling them out (and they have very thin skins - trust me on that). I think most long term DD inhabitants can guess who without names lol
