Edit since the thread title has been moderated no need to mention it now.
But that doesn't excuse the content of the video. The only redeeming feature of which is his admitting that everything in it is pure speculation.
And then some, I'd add.
Lending any credence to the idea that what happened with CDPR's console failure has anything to do with Odyssey or fdev is poor form enough by any old random on the Internet but I thought Obsidian Ant knew better. And rehashing baseless speculation (no, op, not "evidence" as you call it) from three years ago - as a talking point just to attempt to support that fallacy above - that the planetary graphics issue was a deliberate ploy to dumb the pc down to mirror the ps4....
I don't subscribe, personally. But is this typical of the videos he produces? Basically, disingenuous nudging of fdev to suggest it's OK to admit the delay isn't what they said. CDPR admitted they lied, guys... If you did, we won't mind! Just be honest!
Pretty low bar. I watched it through but I can't see any compelling reason to watch any more in future.
I stopped wathcing Mr. Ant's ED videos a long time ago (probably around the 3-year mark, indeed!), due to the rampant speculation that was adding really nothing to what we know about the game and its development.
There are many reason for development delays. I'm in the middle of one myself, which is a combination of overpromising on the part of my bosses and a higher level of complexity than was agreed upon demanded by the client. Another way of reading that is as me failing to do the impossible within the famous two-week time frame. I don't have the COVID excuse as I worked from home before the pandemic hit. But any office having to spread their worker base out and rejig all their workflows and communication paths to fit, let alone the logistics of making sure everybody
can work from home with the tools they got, and also ensure they get the time to do so, will inevitably face delays.
And working from home also means relying on internet structures rather than just intranet. It doesn't matter how fantastic AWS's servers may be, the frayed copper wires linking us to them are just as easily the weak link as anything else.
FD has also said in the past that nature of ED makes it complex to make additions to. They also set a very high mark for quality right from the outset.
This may sound like excuses on behalf of FD, but perhaps people should realise that these issues are real and pervasive among all COVID-hit nations. Or take the advise of Cobra Kai's Johhny Lawrence to heart.
