Possible Game loops?

I disagree that ship interiors don't provide meaningful gameplay. Perhaps a non-pilot player wants to take a long trip, but doesn't want to do 10000 hops using Apex. No problem, hop on my Baluga/Orca, pay me x Credits. Cmdrs could start tour companies to take players to their favourite sightseeing spots. While travelling passengers would be able to interact with each other, look out the windows, etc. You could do stop overs to break up the trip and your passengers could get out and stretch their legs, so to speak.
Or you could mount a Science Expedition, outfit a large ship with some cabins and a new type of module, a research station. This could function in a similar way to carrier modules. A group of players sign up to your expedition, you head our to distant world looking for life, they could then sell their discoveries to your research station, minus a surcharge for you.
I'm sure there are many more possible gameplay loops that other Cmdrs could dream up, but I'm certain of one thing, we need ship interiors and we need a way to provide services to other players for a fee.
If we had a menu option like "Create a Mission" with a drop down of options eg. "Sightseeing, Transport, Science Expedition, etc.", a description field for the mission/service and a field for the fee. These player created fields could then populate a separate "Player Mission" tab on the local Stations mission board.
players would have the ability to rate the service afterwards and ratings earned in this way would reflect on any future missions a player offers.

So - all your 'gameplay' suggestions are .. people could get on my ship and wait until I get somewhere ... I think you made the point why it hasn't been added yet :ROFLMAO:
Well you would approach it from a gameplay point of view, say, post a mission saying that you are making a tour of guardian sites or thargoid sites and you have x seats available and it will cost y Craigs and then you run the mission. Maybe not the best example, but I'm sure Cmdrs would come up with some creative ideas.

I can see all sorts of meaningful gameplay with regard to ship interiors. Stowaways, saboteurs (ha, spelled it right my first time), burglars, boarding parties, fending off or conducting searches/inspections for the former, inflight-repairs, etc.

It would be fantastic, but could you imagine the chaos as some log out to escape?

Yup - but the OP is mainly suggesting standing around watching them fly somewhere... by far the worst option.

Then again that is enough for something like SC - where the main pull of ship interiors seems to be 'now I can salute all my pals ... while on a ship!'. Fine for the OP, I'd rather wait until we can have the options you list :)

God that sounds tedious as hell.

If Frontier ever add cockpit legs to the game I hope the come up with something far more imaginative that sitting about waiting to be show the sights and sounds of a generic nebula and its nav beacon or any of your other suggestions.

Call me if they ever add ship boarding where I can steal someone's ship or just shoot them in the face and eject their cargo.

That is an issue that would need to be addressed.

I forgot to add assassinating tourists/terrorism to my list.

Hmmm, I do see the point of everyone's criticism, but I think player generated missions would be cool and also a way for players being able to directly offer goods and services for profit to other players. As for the tedium, those tourist missions etc would be primarily offered to players in Odyssey that do not own, or have any desire to own their own ships.
I for one might enjoy having a luxury cabin to myself on a Beluga, with other passengers, for a trip to Colonia. It would beat staring at a wall in someone else's Carrier. Big windows to watch the Galaxy go past, the Neutron star jumps, being able to wander around the huge Beluga interior. Maybe I'm just weird.

All those things would be awesome, I'm just suggesting other options on top of that.

I forsee a new kind of griefers, who will invite passengers for a ridiculous low fee, make an intermittend stop at some alledged interesing far abroad settlement nobody else visits and take off as soon as the passengers go sightseeing.
After some month they return and ask the survivors to mine them some minerals for food and the promise of a return ticket. And a good rating at Yelp Dangerous.

Regards, Dirk
