Don't fly without insurance.

Don't forget your fuel-scoop.

You can discover good trade routes, plentiful mining spots, and the best hunting grounds by searching for community run web-sites on the Internet, as the game doesn't provide anything like this internally.

If you don't want a bounty; do not shoot things that aren't labelled in red, e.g. WANTED or MISSION TARGET.

The system in the bottom left corner is your next one, not your current one.

The hologram of a space-station shows the orientation of the letterbox. Position yourself in-between the planet and the station to have the letterbox pointing forwards, saving you that frustrating trip around a station.

Once docking has been granted, embossed arrows appear on the station hologram to indicate the direction to the letterbox.

If you hire help, don't give them a remlock mask, let them die in the cold harshness of space when your ship is destroyed while you're scooped up by search and rescue.

Please avoid landing your ship atop unsuspecting explorers on foot.

A list of random in game trivia would be nice too. Like
"the first official contact with a thargoid took place on XX date"
"Raxxla is a fabled location thats been talked about for hundreds of years yet noone knows where it is"
"The INRA organization was responsible for releasing the mycoid virus on the thargoids during the first war"
"Sagittarius A is 50,000 LY from sol"
"Colonia is X distance from sol and was founded on X date"

You get the idea.

You can repair your SRV hull with synthesis. Costs you a nickel, though.
You can repair your ships hull in deep space by using an untargeted repair drone. (Except when, like it happend to me yesterday, you foolishly pick a fight resulting in an out-of-order cargo hatch).
You can only repair your AFMU with a second AFMU and neither one can repair your power plant.
Landing on your back with a SRV besides your ship (ingredients: one SRV, some psised off guardian sentinels and one missile hit through your ships PDT umbrella) requires you to send off your ship, as the booster is unavailable near it. (Of course you will then have to deal with the guardian sentinels without the ships help. Luckily there was a fleet carrier (viatorem something) available in orbit where I could refill my hangar. Donated some tritium next time I passed through).

Remember pirate lives matter too.
They all got families to feed. So be kind to pirates, don't kill them just disable their drives
