Thrusters disabled fighting pirates....

So I'm doin these massacre missions visiting the mission signal sources threat level 3-4. For awhile everything seemed to be pretty easy mode. Until I jumped in to a few of these and all hell breaks loose immediately with like 5-7 ships attacking me at once. I make it through the first one killing off all the baddies and leaving my hull only at around 85%. I'm feeling pretty bad ass. That was a threat level 4.

So next i jump into a threat level 3 and and like 7 are attacking me with a conda! Its nuts and I'm getting hammered from all sides. Manage to take out the conda and a few others then BAM. I'm just floating in space cuz my thrusters get blown out. My question is the only option to self destruct after that? I couldnt move or do anything even though federal security ships came in and started to clean up.

Reboot/Repair normally takes a percent or three away from your powerplant to affect repairs. Though as Jmanis already said, if you have an AFMU aboard a repair option should show up in the modules tab for every module except your power plant. Either way, a few percent is all you really need to make it to a station and get a full repair.

Damn...sucks I wasted a rebuy and lost my bounties. I guess I didnt look well enough for the repair option!

Top right here for reboot/repair... noting your ship will be vulnerable while it goes on

And in case you need it (not clear from your posts) using your AFMU means select the module you want to repair

... then select repair (mine's red coz I don't have an AFMU)

How do you do that? I had an AFMU onboard but I didnt know you could repair manually
Dump the amfu and have lots of SCBs instead. Have one SCB bound to its own button and another on secondary trigger, so that you can use two for each heatsink. That's if you haven't already done that. An amfu is no use for those type of missions. You need a shield tank if you want to blow them all up.

Thanks Jmanis. Cant believe I didnt see this lol. DOH

ED has a lovely habit (in much the same way that Sony products do :sneaky:) of providing you with everything you need but just not telling you how it works or that it even exists .

Modules randomly powering down?
Doesn't tell you about Priority Management...

Cops keep jumping in and stealing your kills?
Doesn't tell you about switching off Crime Reporting...

Engines/FSD broken and stuck floating in space?
Doesn't tell you about Reboot/Repair...

Struggling to find your landing pad?
Doesn't tell you about following the compass bubble...

Can't work out how to see a planets gravity?
Doesn't tell you it's right there on the HUD...

The list goes on 🤣

Well I'm in a Chieftain which I engineered as a hull tank.

Odd how those mission signal sources are different for you. For me, none of the pirates are winged or aggro, I can take them out one by one without anything happening.
All it takes is one ton of anything not a limpet, or lacking fire discipline. Frags can aggro a large group really fast.
