Galnet & Twitter: "an unknown vessel needs our help!"

The halloween event was only solved so quickly because of a hunch and a good bit of luck.
Maybe we won't be as lucky this time round.
I guess we'll see.

To be fair luck is in the cards, but if it takes too long they might narrow it down somewhat, even though I think they shouldn't do it. The players should optimize the search, not Frontier. Since this isn't a CG there is no time limit, though I guess RP-wise as time goes on there may be an increasing danger for whoever is in "Serene Harbour".

1. 80 ly range around Swoilz XX-D c1-30 - So a few thousand systems, and since this is a bit out of the bubble, there are probably unmapped systems too so EDSM lists aren't going to be complete. The key here is to be efficient, so groups of players should try to coordinate themselves to avoid searching the same systems.
2. "Serene Harbour" - I'm taking a very rough assumption here that a FSS of bodies is enough to reveal it if it's the right system since it's something capable of broadcasting.

Just under 5000 systems apparently, 4798 from what I am told.

That's not cryptic, it's just a grind, and having previously chased the rift and conflux sites including months eyeballing planets I must admit I'll let others carry most of the work on this one until we get something to narrow the scope. It's too close to the bubble to even be worth the exploration tags.

As such I'll do a little random mapping but spend more time on my alts for now.

I've taken the liberty of posting a thread covering what the situation is and what needs to be done if the Galnet article is taken literally:

another thought on "Serene Harbour": it was a voice transmission, quality unknown.

so /sɪˈriːn/
e.g. C-...

interesting! logically any station 160 ly from swoilz could potentially have a local galnet.

Wouldn't 80 ly be the radius? With Swoilz as the reference, EDDB shows the nearest station being 105 ly away, so known bubble stations would be out of range.

Aboard this ship we will find Jasmina Halsey, who just made her way back to the bubble.

yea would be nice to get a co-ordinated approach for the frontline runts like me to follow

this does seem like a good start:

imho no. the transmission was received from 80ly distance, so radius 80ly = 160ly minimum possible from swoilz

Any one got any idea if we looking for beacons, unidentified signals sources or what?
I found a system with 21 degraded emissions points on my way there, they 292kls out, heading back there now

Am I getting my math concept wrong? If you have a 80 ly radius sphere centered around Swoliz, no system will be further than 80 ly from its center. You get a 160 ly diameter by having a 80 ly from each extreme distance measured to each other instead of the Swoliz system, but both of those extreme systems would be no further than 80 ly from the Swoliz center. So the 160 ly measurement isn't really relevant...

your maths is spot on (y)

You are correct that from the centre the sphere would have 80Ly radius, of course, my thinking went to the maximum distance apart other sources might be.

It's possible stations further from there have more news tho. Other pilots may have reported it to the station locally, or a station could also have picked it up. May be worth going to the closest ones
