Uh uh no way. I've seen Event Horizon. I know what happens when you go looking for lost ships. I'm keeping my eyeballs, sanity, and my ship intact!

The halloween event was only solved so quickly because of a hunch and a good bit of luck.
Maybe we won't be as lucky this time round.
I guess we'll see.
another thought on "Serene Harbour": it was a voice transmission, quality unknown. To be fair luck is in the cards, but if it takes too long they might narrow it down somewhat, even though I think they shouldn't do it. The players should optimize the search, not Frontier. Since this isn't a CG there is no time limit, though I guess RP-wise as time goes on there may be an increasing danger for whoever is in "Serene Harbour".
1. 80 ly range around Swoilz XX-D c1-30 - So a few thousand systems, and since this is a bit out of the bubble, there are probably unmapped systems too so EDSM lists aren't going to be complete. The key here is to be efficient, so groups of players should try to coordinate themselves to avoid searching the same systems.
2. "Serene Harbour" - I'm taking a very rough assumption here that a FSS of bodies is enough to reveal it if it's the right system since it's something capable of broadcasting.
interesting! logically any station 160 ly from swoilz could potentially have a local galnet.
Aboard this ship we will find Jasmina Halsey, who just made her way back to the bubble.

I'd thought an 80Ly 'bubble' with the body at the centre, which would make the diameter 160Ly - but could be wrong.Wouldn't 80 ly be the radius? With Swoilz as the reference, EDDB shows the nearest station being 105 ly away, so known bubble stations would be out of range.
imho no. the transmission was received from 80ly distance, so radius 80ly = 160ly minimum possible from swoilzWouldn't 80 ly be the radius? With Swoilz as the reference, EDDB shows the nearest station being 105 ly away, so known bubble stations would be out of range.
it says "within 80ly of the system". So, max distance of 80 ly from Swoilz xx-d c1-30. 160 would be the distance from outer edge of the area to the opposite outer edge.imho no. the transmission was received from 80ly distance, so radius 80ly = 160ly minimum possible from swoilz
Yes, this. It says she was in swoilz and the broadcast was not more than 80ly away, so a bubble with an 80ly radius (160ly diameter) is spot on!I'd thought an 80Ly 'bubble' with the body at the centre, which would make the diameter 160Ly - but could be wrong.

your maths is spot onAm I getting my math concept wrong? If you have a 80 ly radius sphere centered around Swoliz, no system will be further than 80 ly from its center. You get a 160 ly diameter by having a 80 ly from each extreme distance measured to each other instead of the Swoliz system, but both of those extreme systems would be no further than 80 ly from the Swoliz center. So the 160 ly measurement isn't really relevant...
You are correct that from the centre the sphere would have 80Ly radius, of course, my thinking went to the maximum distance apart other sources might be.Am I getting my math concept wrong?
