Galnet & Twitter: "an unknown vessel needs our help!"

Hey so this might be a stupid question. But does it feel normal, that there is a Data point at the Serene Harbor and that it's making strange noise? I am pretty new, so I didn't scan many data points at other settlements, but I don't remember them making a noise. Might be worth some analysis?
Completely normal. It's just the mechanism for giving an "amazing cash reward" of about 1m credits at one of these sites.

Having made it out there myself now, I am 98% sure this is a new base design, and let's say 80% sure it is an Odyssey asset. Lots of little details that make me think it was designed with on-foot action in mind, in a way that many of the existing base designs do not.

Agreed. I believe it might even be a teaser with regards to some of the mission possibilities that will be available in Odyssey..

I suggest you go look at the other Penal Colony (BV-2259 on HIP 16217 AB 1 a) and compare - they looked pretty similar to me. Especially the landing pad.

Though this version seems more spiky - never got my SRV stuck as often.
Yep I think you're right, that base seems identical, as best I could tell with a Thargoid duking it out with the base defenses overhead. So that means it's a rarely used asset that's been in the game since at least 2018, not something new. Oh well. I still think the events described sound a whole lot like a potential Odyssey scenario, but that's hardly surprising.

I used to do it the other way around, but I find that with my FC incl. 30 ship fleet, Colonia is a lot more fun as a compact (and pretty!) playground than for my poor single-ship non-FC CMDR (which was reset twice since).

The only thing I kind of miss is the AX stuff - combat but also gathering AX related cargo (hearts, tissue samples, meta alloys, probes, etc.) which I could then sell at outrageous prices on my FC. But I ended up in a bit of a rut jumping between Sol/ShinDez region and the Pleiades, and it got a bit samey, hence the move to Colonia. There (here), I can engage more with the BGS (still very light touch though) and because there are fewer systems and factions, I get to 'know' them better, while all asteroid rings are pristine so mining doesn't require any treks into the middle of nowhere (as you're already there lol).

I thought about moving the FC back to the bubble but been there for a month now and still like it - might wait with the trip back until just prior to Odyssey, or even afterwards (to check Colonia based assets first).

To actually answer your question - I use my main account a lot more again now, though I always have - the only period of time that's interesting on the alt is the initial phase of A-rating and achieving the one ship I want to fly exclusively (previously Crusader, Conda, FAS, and now, simply the Cobra 3), once that's done I get bored. Will still use it for bubble CGs but the last few have been quite unsuitable for small ship CMDRs unfortunately. The main account offers a lot more options due to the FC and the varied fleet of mostly G4/5'd ships at my disposal.

It sounds like you don't build up the alt account with its own fleet of ships and FC. Why is that? Because of having to do the engineers all over again?

Anybody else noticed the "Human Signal" on the surface of 3B, roughly 3000km from the penal colony?

I went to have a look but it's always roughly 30m below the surface and it's moving at around 5m/s.

I've had this happen before but it's usually a mission target and it does eventually resolve into something that can be seen.
This signal source just seems to be moving continuously.

Not much to it.
Galnet says a signal was detected in <some system name>, could have originated within 80Ly.
Search random systems within 80Ly of detection system.
Find correct system and DSS planet to pinpoint site

Weird...I DSS'd and mapped the planet but got diddly squat. No sources on the planet at all in either pass. Had to fly there old school using the coordinates. I guess it's bugged :) I was flying in open though in my Cobra Mk IV named "Catharsis" in the hope of brightening some gankers day though so that probably had an effect.

Sounds like we're getting graboids now for surface AX combat in place of Thargoids in space.

It's a bug where (some) POI won't show up after a DSS in the nav panel. You need to log off/ on again. Alternately you can still eyeball the poi marker on the planet surface after scanning, since it's only the nav panel it won't appear on.

I just joined the search, lots of signals detected which is kind of unusual I find as in almost every system I have jump too...Probably just my imagination.
I need to catch up on this thread to really know what is happenning so far.

I managed to find the facility, but when I scanned the data beacons, I ended up getting logs from an entirely different event. Girlfriend was with me and got the correct ones. I've been trying to figure out how they messed that up. Baffling.

I have almost the same issue, two days ago I've scanned the data beacons and received these logs. But yesterday I've decided to go through Ghost ship event since i've missed it. And new logs completely replaced the logs from current event in Codex Archieve.... Also I've seen that somebody put a screenshot somewhere on these forums, to illustrate the issue

Yes, seen the signal, also above the ground. I was only meters away and could'nt see anything. Somebody spacelegging around in a cloak suit ... Odyssey, here we go ...

Yeah I don't want to essentially copy the playstyle I apply to my main account, I play instead as a single ship CMDR which is refreshingly different vs multi billionaire have it all.

The second reason is now that I'm not buying Odyssey twice, so don't want to invest too much time in the alt. In fact I'm only doing engineering if it pops up as part of my light touch gameplay. None of my weapons are engineered for example but it's surprisingly doable to make do like that, despite what certain engineer haters proclaim. Obviously PvP is out of the question but I'm not bothered about that anyways. It'll eventually become a Tritium slave on my main's FC and Multicrew Copilot.
