Something different about the Krait Phantom? (Heat/Scoop)

can be it's nothing but...

i fly that thing for 8 weeks with little breaks, and since a few days my fuel is often empty and i regularly overheat during the usual sun-scoop-flybys.

can be me, but the ship feels different, like it gains heat quicker and scoops slower
i got a 3A scoop and a guardian 5A plant.

can any other phantom pilot tell me that everything is normal?

I assume you’re asking if the underlying game mechanics have changed recently right? Frontier hasn’t released any patches lately, so I doubt it. Probably in your head or you’re scoping hotter stars and don’t realize it.

There was a patch the other day and FDev did not disclose what was in it.

It’s hard to imagine the scoop would be scooping slower since the scoop rate is right there on screen, but I suppose there could have been some stealth changes to ships’ natural heat capacities..

Well, that 3A Scoop isn't your friend just in terms of how long it will take to refuel; full tank, Coriolis is saying just over 3 minutes.

That's a lot of time to bake the ship in the corona.

Mine is exactly the same, so....don't know, why would you be running out of fuel faster, using more per jump? Smaller fuel Tank? If you are using more per jump you may have increased range by removing something and now you are jumping further?, I am assuming you would remember putting in a smaller fuel tank

Or did you fly another ship with a bigger scoop recently, so you now realize how dreadfully slow the 3A always has been?

Imho a class 3 scoop can only be viewed as a contingency on a Phantom. That thing wants a nice big class 6 scoop and an armoured thermal spread PP. Then you can just scoot by a star and hit Jump as soon as the destination rises above the exclusion zone. ^^

Interesting. After the first of the two minor upgrades we had recently i could have sworn my asp x was handling differently. Very subtle but it was there. i dismissed it thinking i was imagining it but now youve posted this thread im wondering whether something has been tweaked.

3A fuel scoop is too small. You should get a 5A. Downsize whichever of the modules you have currently occupying the size-5 slots. Compromise.

(2+ years Krait Phantom owner here - as my only ship)

I have 1 3A on my phantom - it isnt a problem as I dont scoop all that much - i find it easier just to dock and pay for it (unless there isnt anywhere to dock!).

3A can be just fine if you have better uses for the class 5 slots. If I don't need too much fuel, I usually max the throttle so I've got speed to quickly get away from the star and cool off when done. Otherwise I set position to scoop in the 100-120/s range (whatever stabilizes heat <70% depending on the star type) and do my FSS while scooping.

So this is going to be a dumb question but please indulge me...
Why are you running such a small scoop?
What are you using the Phantom for?
This ship is usually an exploration build but if that were the case, you would have a max size FS fitted... Not a puny size 3!
And why a Guardian PP?
That is one odd build you have there...

I've been flying Phantoms since their introduction to the game and never had heat issues with my builds.
