Galnet Update 03 FEB 3307 - Nope...Imperial's Serene Harbour doesn't exist...it's all lies....those pesky fednecks....

You can trust Senator Karl Nerva, he's a graduate of the Wuhan school for press relations.

Obviously this fraud by the Federation in building a secret billion credit facility and populating it with fake imperial security and prisoners in order to make false accusations against the empire means that the Marlinist prisoners handed over to the empire need to be kept safe in order to stop the Federation killing them to protect their lies.

As such they will have to be kept isolated in a secret facility without trial or independent checks on their health for the foreseeable future, which obviously wouldn't be counter to any imperial laws as protecting them from the Federation overrides the right of a fair trial.

I just can't understand why anybody can't see how obvious this all is 😂
Why populate it with anybody?

Just find enough bodies to leave around the place to match the script for the log entries.

Pilots Federation ALERT

An Imperial Intelligence detention facility discovered in the R CRA Sector AF-A d42 system has been repudiated by the Empire.

The outpost, named Serene Harbour, was located after its distress call was shared publicly by the Pilots Federation. According to the Commander Andee-X- who first investigated the site, all its occupants were dead as the result of what appeared to be a prisoner breakout.

Unlike the Imperial Internal Security Service, the Imperial Intelligence organisation has no spokespeople or public channels. However, Senator Karl Nerva told the media:

“The claim that high-security prisoners and terrorists are being tortured for information in an unregistered outpost is categorically false. There is no such place as ‘Serene Harbour’.”

“We believe that independent pilots have been duped by a Federal ploy to undermine the Empire, using fake locations and logs for theatrical effect. I assure all citizens that Imperial Intelligence operates fully within the law and remains vigilant against all threats.”

When asked about Commandant Gabriel De Luca, who was identified by surviving logs at the outpost, Senator Nerva replied:

“Captain De Luca was indeed an agent of Imperial Intelligence, but died on active duty several years ago. It’s obvious that this respected hero’s identity has been stolen to add credibility to anti-Imperial disinformation.”

But why was there a human signal source?

Made me think a l'il bit about the film "Universal Soldier" from the eighties or early nineties, "dead soldiers" coming back and all of that...
But, maybe cloning being introduced...in this game?
Always been an Imperial thing iirc?

You have to admit, it doesn't make much sense that A: The Empire would abandon such a highly-sensitive facility in the first place(it's not THAT big, is it really so difficult to bombard it from orbit the instant you realize it's gone offline?), and B: That they wouldn't immediately know what it was when the first distress calls were discovered, and immediately jump to A.

Instead they're being very reactive, which isn't something you do when you already knew what everyone was going to find.

Though personally, I'd bet more on this actually being an effort by the NMLA. What better propaganda for their cause than heroic terrorists refusing to break under torture by their cruel imperial overseers, and then turning the tables on them with once-loyal imperial soldiers?

What we need is open warfare between Imps and Feds, KOS with no penalties.

If you pledge for one of the Powers involved, you can kill the opposing power pilots, no murder bounties, no stupid fines for interdictions or firing first. Clean or wanted, all the same.

Won't happen, so it's all a fancy.

OK, that's a really weak rebuttal by Senator Nerva (First time I heard of him btw. Would like to know which system/s he represents and what's his role inside the Empire. More infos please, FDevs, thanks). If you make claims like that you should have something better then just "But De Luca was a warhero, he would never do something like that!"

That being said: I would not put this past the Fednecks, especially to help out Hudson to stay in power. They certainly had enough time since the CG in LTT 1935 to set it up.
In all honesty, i read the weak rebuttal as ...

... a "well damn, cats out of the bag, but holy heck what's going on? Who is this Theta Seven? If we acknowledge existence of the base, we acknowledge understanding of what transpired... but truth is we don't know what the hell went on, so denial will at least distance us from what transpired there, even if we have a weak ground to base denial on. "

Basically, it was an Imperial detention centre, but the shuttle that rocked up was not Imperial, or at least it was a force masquerading as Imperial forces.

The commentary about Theta Seven being "treated like a senator" has been interpreted as them being a senator, rather than just being treated as a VIP. An Imperial describing that sort of observation would do so using familiar terms, not a phrase as general as "treated like royalty " because there's different levels of royalty in the Empire... "a senator" would be more descriptive, but does not imply the person was a senator.

I'm not too fussed for the Empire here. Give it a few more weeks and something equally damning will occur in federal space, led by familiar actors.

Like a suspicious custard

Edit: late to the party and ninja’ed by @thelion, good show old boy! Now there’d better be some port and cheese left...
I'm calling out my own conspiracy theory now...

Still not sure why the Imps feel a need to deny it, though, but maybe that's just me.

When dealing with terrorists holding valuable information that could save lives, my philosophy is this:

1) Ask nicely. Once.
2) Red is positive, black is ground.

Like i suggested before, they probably don't care about accounting for the existence of an interrogation camp, rather, they don't want ownership or accountability of everything that happened after... that's a major smear if the Imperial intelligence services are potentially compromised.

Speaking to several people I know in the extremist federal camp(mostly the " better dead than impie " sort, others more of "what do you call 1000 dead impies? A start" sort)
There no reason why they would run a fake impie prison holding the marlinist freedom fighters, they have them out going free causing as much havoc to the impies as possible

But then what do I know, I'm just a simple space pilot

Bill

I suppose it's better to cling to that fantasy rather than admit the reality - that the Empire got exactly what it wanted (possession of the NMLA leadership by capturing them or having them handed over by the Federation) and still bungled it.
