Yeah anyone can dock in a small/medium ship. I only ever died to docking (once I wasn't a total noob) once I went to large ships. The margin for error is just so much less, and the mailslot doesn't even seem like it was sized with the larger ships in mind.
I feel for your friend because it's honestly lame getting killed because of a mistake. The game needs better ways to detect what is an accident and what is pure malice imo.
Why? The player made several basic mistakes and learned a very valuable lesson or two...
Not least the one in the title, but also the one about learning to walk before trying to run...
You might find as you go through life that a shred of empathy toward your fellow human wouldn't kill you.
Nope. Some people need to learn hard lessons.
Learning in a video game is a nice safe place to learn.
That may be, but I don't think I would trust any gamer community/forum to make a determination on who those "some people" are. Just saying...
Don't be too hard on your friend, learning for yourself, even if it's the hard way, is the best way to learn.I know right ! I was laughing my *** off when he got stuck cause I knew what was gona happen 10 seconds later.
He's stubborn and wants to figure stuff out himself. Bad game for that kind of mentality >< He learned the hard way.
When he got to the mission destination and tried to manually dock on the station, he got stuck in the entrance and his ship blew up.
He then rage quit and will probably not play again for some time.
Not sure what you are saying, or how its relevant to my above reply. Or to this thread.
I was kind of hoping there would be a fleet carrier or two going cheap after they get decommissioned ... no?tragic. i wish the galaxy could ever recover from such devastating loss of a cmdr, he will be dearly remembered and no, you can't have his stuff.
Ignorance is no excuse, especially considering the circumstances: a more experienced player tutoring and telling to not fly without a rebuy, and to not buy the biggest ship he just can afford without a rebuy and has no experience flying.but I can forgive him for his ignorance considering the circumstances.

you must be trolling, but in a really alien and twisted way. you are accusing the mail slot of malice now?
I was just about to say the same thing.Make it an ad poster on stations and carriers.
Keep in mind this is a universe where loitering is punishable........ by death. And you don't even want to know what they do to Jaywalkers. Poor Vinny, he was never the same after the empire let him out of prison.... smh.I think your reading comprehension needs work:
Blocking mailslot intentionally = malice
Blocking mailslot because of landing failure = accident
One is worthy of death, the other is not.

The mail slot is perfectly big enough for every ship in the game.. The margin for error is just so much less, and the mailslot doesn't even seem like it was sized with the larger ships in mind.
