10'000+ Hour Exploration Mission

Unless you intend to do this as a solo/endurance run, there are a few people who might help you if when you get into trouble:
  • Hull Seals. Will repair anything on your ship, except for the power plant
  • Fuel Rats. They have fuel, you don't. No other questions.
  • DSSA. The Deep Space Support Array. A bunch of fleet carriers with open docking and repair facilities, distributed throughout the Galaxy.

Good Luck.

This is a solo run, 0 Help. I am somewhat trying to be as legit as I can with this being as much as possible like a real spaceflight in the sense, once you leave the area of civilized space its a make or break experience …

I’ve just seen you’ve got supercruise assist as you engage a 450kls journey towards....something, somewhere. That’s a button that’s going to get some wear over 10’000 hours.

One of the things I love most about this game is the sheer amount of daft stuff undertaken by Cmdrs purely because, well yeah....because.

Good luck.

oh I have a shield just my haul is lightweight no reinforcements.
At least heavy duty and deep plate the lightweight hull...you can do this with zero penalties to mass.
I run a lightweight reactive armour on my explorer.
What's the rest of your ship build look like???

I admire your dedication...but 10k hours...12hrs / day...7 days / week...while live streaming...[insert your choice of expletives in here]
You Cmdr are bat guano crazy :D

Haha, here is the thing they went to the moon in a so called coffee can. I see no difference here. basically i don't remember my build at this point other than i have a 32 cube fuel tank and i added a 6E 64 cube tank on top of that....

Edit: if you really want to see my build its in a previous video i have 3 days of me streaming from the Day i launched in the sidewinder, let me make a link to the build video.

I "Think" its this video Build

Haha, what ever you do don't try and land on a high G planet :D
I'll reiterate...You Cmdr are bat guano crazy :D
Ill check out your stream later.

Well to address the person on how I avoided life for 23 years, uh disability tends to do that to people. :)

I was waiting for this as I realised almost immediately after posting that my comment was one of someone with his head stuck up his own rear end.

I left my comment there rather than edit or request delete, to serve as an example to others of how not to post.

Please accept my apology, I was out of order and I should have engaged my brain before replying.

It’s fine heh, happens a lot to be honest. Most people don’t realize that people with disabilities live mostly in isolation due to a few reasons. One being the cost of living two being stigma. But on a positive note this is why games like this help those with disabilities it keeps us mentally active and I owe a lot of my coping and recovery processes to gaming. So in the end no harm was done and I never felt insulted by the comment and I apologize for being a little bit snippy in my response Lol!

in regards to the 10’000 hour mission I have decided to trade in the Asp Explorer for a ship I really enjoy flying the Cobra MK 3. Now without the engineering to which is kind of bugging me, I think I have a decent set up. All core components are A rated aside from the Fuel Tank. But I added a second 4C fuel tank in the Optionals 4A fuel scoop, 3E shields, surface scanner, a 2E cargo rack, planetary SRV. I hope this will get me by for the duration. One thing I did learn though with the AspX was I was running a ground mission and didn’t realize I needed to “collect” fuel for the SRV which kind of dashed my thoroughly scanning all discovery’s on Planets. So if anyone can think of something Vital before I leave the bubble. I plan to launch within the next few minutes!

Not too lat I am re evaluating the plan in regards to ship plus what to put in it. I am now thinking of a python However I am currently trading to get one. The streaming will always go on I just feel if I am going to Explore I better have at least a decent ship heh.

I'll just leave this here for your consideration. See especially the 2 AFMU and the Repair Limpet Controller, if you really want to be completely self reliant, this is mandatory in my eyes. The two former can repair each other (as they cant repair themselves) and all modules (besides powerplant, which can't be repaired out in the black) and the latter can repair hull damage.
Don't forget to bring materials for limpet/ heatsink synthesis.
Also 2 SRV, because you might end up losing one.

Wishing you a splendid journey, you madman! ;)

If you're going out into the black for 10k hours then flying a proper specced, enjoyable, ship is a must I would say. It's definitely worth putting the time in to build a ships that's more than capable of doing the job. Personally I wouldn't go for a python as I think other ships are much better at an exploration role, like Anders phantom ship link.

One thing to think about with an exploration ship is maxing out the jump range shouldn't be the be all and all all of the ship design as this can lead to a paper thin ship that's at risk of being turned into a pancake if you explore planet surfaces. While your ship does have shields they don't really offer much protection. If you have a rough landing on a high G planet then 100Mj shields won't offer any protection at all and your ship is still likely to pop.
It's possible to build a much sturdier ship if you're willing to lose a little jump range. Imo it's worth doing as you don't want one little mistake while landing on a planet which means you see a rebuy screen.

Obviously things like the low power prismic shield and lightweight reactive armour do add cost to the ship, but very worth it in the long run. This is a very cool running, low emissions build...and it still has 58ly jump range (mines 63ly with the CG double engineered FSD :))
You could go with a smaller cargo rack and a 2 bay SRV and add a mining laser to suit your needs better.

but if you're going to do it, may as well take a stock adder and circumnavigate using economy routing or something else odd, engineering it and using a sensible ships goes against the lunatics convention.

That's certainly another way to do it! 😄 Problem is, such a trip would be highly unlikely to last 10000 hrs. Which would make for an even more ridiculous feat right there.

it’s really a toss up for me between the Cobra MK3 or the AspExplorer atm. ATM I currently have 37m do a medium cheap ship is really good idea for me I just can’t decide on the best standard build I want

or a Dolphin I really like that little ship

there's already one nutcase flying a Dolphin

I don't know... economy routing is surprisingly long... I estimate around 120,000 jumps to circumnavigate using economy that alone without exploring or doing anything else is ~2000 hours.

now if you add in ... scan every system you jump to... 10,000 hours easy, but by hell that will be one serious payout on return...
