State of the game

Sometimes, it can be downright frustrating playing Elite on Xbox. The lag is just the worst. I have the game on PC and Xbox, I can be in the same star system with both commanders, and for whatever reason the Xbox will just lag hard while the PC doesn't. Not sure what is going on. I did a fresh install on Xbox to try to remedy the issue and lost all my star cache (another stupid bug), and the game still lagged in busy systems with a lot of fleet carriers. So where all the fun and excitement is, I can't usually go on Xbox. I forwarded the appropriate ports and my NAT type is open on Xbox so I am at wits end.

I wonder if it's a hardware storage issue? How old is your Xbox? Are you able to try a different Xbox?

I have a SSD HDD on my PC and everything loads and runs lightning fast. I have a XBSX now as well and the lag, jitter and slow load issues I had with my old Xbox went away.

It could be. I have an hdd in my Xbox one X. My PC has ssd.

This issue only came about where large amounts of carriers are, the problem is that it affects, CG'S, Engineers systems, popular spots(Sag A etc), fuel locations. A large chunk of the lag is because of those carriers and there is no need to have systems hold 100 plus carriers.

Unfortunately, I don't have a 75 inch 4K monitor or a comfy couch in my home office. I stick to console because I prefer to have my entertainment in my living room.

I do have ED installed on my PC but it's not the same experience for me.
I understand...but for whatever it's worth, a 75" TV can be a monitor, as well. I often play on my 55" TV in the media room through my laptop.

True enough, but I was speculating that it could be a hardware issue too.

My reasoning was the almost extreme performance differences between using SSD as storage and a HDD. He stated that his PC ran the game fine while he had so many issues with his Xbox while on the same network.

My own game performance improved markedly when I switched from my XB1X to my XBSX while still using the exact same network set-up.

It is stupid to believe from a business standpoint that fdev would drop consoles but so is the culture PC eliteism yet developers do it anyway

The commercial decisions to build on a particular platform are made on a spreadsheet, not influenced though some kind of executive fanboyism.

Put this in your spreadsheet. 90 million xbox accounts on average are active each month. 95 million Steam accounts on average are active each month. Armored Warfare has relatively similar player counts. What business sense does it make to cut your playerbase in half? That's a rhetorical question.

as nobody in Frontier has mentioned it.

And why would they?

When I was involved with AW, I was a discord mod, and a content creator (I also built the AW console subreddit) so I had regular contact with the console CM's there on the staff server.

As time went by, one by one, the "good" CMs started moving on to other employment and those who stayed on, were slowly reassigned to other games.

Finally, console was assigned a new CM who refused to have anything to do with the subreddit and our CC streaming day award goodies dried up.

Shortly after that, the CC cadre was told by one of the CMs who had departed; "don't be surprised" if certain things happen...then the announcement was made.

As much as I hate to speculate, I see the same journey beginning here with ED. Time will tell I guess.

You could be right, I have no idea - but speculation on the demise of consoles at this particular point of time makes no sense at all because everything that has taken place so far is easily explainable without the use of conspiracy theories.

The lag is my biggest issue with the game on console. I know iam not the only one who engaging this problems. I think everyone has it... but many don‘t care about it, because it doesn‘t border them alongst theirs play style. And they will not noticing it...

The lag with carriers, the lag with fighters in pvp, the extrem lag in multi crew.. (sure there are moments who it will run fine). We can play around these = not using fighter in pvp (a specially imposed pvp role/but do what you want its fine ^^), not playing in multi crew for important fights...

So its not much we need to do. Wing battles still working good, playing alone too, so everything is fine xD

But then i heard about Odyssey (i look forward to it). Dev talking about ground action, with possible ships in the air at the same time. Players can mulit crew up - one in srv, one in fighter, one in mothership or on foot.
Sounds nice, but then i think about the multi crew lag... phew
(It works but it makes no fun to me ^^)
(then fdev will losing new players faster i think)

whatever may come, i will stay in to my favorit game :)
