So is the player 'scammed' if he is told to drop cargo but is attacked anyway?
Yes, if the victim complied and trusted the pirate that they would leave them alive after dropping cargo, then the pirate scammed the victim. However, that is intended gameplay.

Using a fleet carrier to intentionally hold players hostage is not intended gameplay.

LOL..... Oh I see, as long as it's intended scamming.

The moral of this story is (after 24 pages)... help noobs instead of exploiting them. Or you could just ignore them which is also popular.

Isn't what "slavers" did?
I mean they took some noobs, they gave them credits to buy kraits, they instructed them how to outfit the kraits and how to mine, they purchased the goods resulted from the mining.
Sure, the "slavers" or "entrepreneurs" kept like 80% of the profit, but they took some risks, right? i mean the noobs could suicidewinder back to the bubble, losing the kraits they did not payed for and having their employers at a loss.

* now, i dont condone nor disapprove the said emergent content. I just think the FD went a little overboard with the ban to solo and to prevent the use of the carriers for the 2 commanders involved... if that actually happened...

Last year there was a thread from a guy, fairly new, he had landed on an FC on a Friday, was buy over the weekend and came back to find his ship miles from where he left it, He was very upset that FC's could just do this. I know this isn't the same, enticing and abducting, but say that happens again, and the 'victim' claims you abducted him. You could lose your carrier, no refund and be banished to paradise (SOLO) that is why the act of abduction is going to have to be judged carefully.

Especially since as far as I recall, there's no way for a commander to know that some random is actually docked on their carrier to begin with.

People keep saying this over and over again. I think the most simple reason none of them did this, is because they were noobs and didn't know they could. I mean, ya think? Doesn't that seem to be the most plausible assumption?

I myself don't recall the whole Creative Use of Suicide tutorial but maybe I missed it...

Well, suicide can be used in a creative way, indeed.
Same goes for submitting to authority while having a bounty in certain scenarios... like the jail taxi from WHN to Pleiades.

Ignorance does not make a good excuse.

I liked that post because I agreed with the sentiment, but you’re absolutely spot on. There’s a whole lot of hoohaa here based on a lot of assumptions. I’m quite pleased I’ve had some textual drama to speed my work day along.
I can't be bothered to listen the Pilot interview of the ringleader again, but he seems to have acknowledged that the discord server was put on notice by Discord for all the racism. That of course doesn't necessarily have to mean literally stuff, could just as well be modern breed 8chan lol kekistan material or whatever the restless young adult males spout online nowadays.
