Well that's still unclear as Frontier have said nothing beyond their first aww shucks reply to Polygon.
Fair. Still, you have to be a fool to think you can lock other players out of the game like this and think the devs are powerless to stop you.

"You" being rhetorical and not actually referring to you specifically, but those who appear to have been penalised.

Edit: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Literally you:

This is my definitive stance on the matter:

They did nothing wrong, because it's a game. Any argument based on perceived similarities with the real world slavery is invalid. In reality, if you're enslaved, that's it, that's your universe, caged. And that slavery is bad, because you, as a slaver, have robbed that person of everything. In a game like Elite Dangerous, you can self-destruct, you can leave the game, you even have a higher chance of getting rescued. Hell, you're not even locked, like @Un1k0rn said. The slaver in this case only robbed you of a couple hours of your time. Assuming they did not ask for money or commit any behavior that would cause real-life damage or losses of any kind, my definitive stance is that they should be unbanned and given back their carriers.

All of this is excluding the vague ToS and BLATANTLY selective/arbitrary/incosistent enforcement of rules from .

Your stance is irrelevant. As is mine.

Only FD's opinion matters. That I happen to agree with FD is coincidence.

Dev rules. MMO 101.

I don't think anybody could (or did) think they were 'powerless to stop it' though - that's exactly what they'd done by

1. Publicising it on the forums
2. Publicising it on galnet
3. 'Reaching out' to the players concerned
4. Facilitating the in-game rescues by the Hull Seals and Fuel Rats

all of which were significantly less heavy-handed ways of acheiving the same aim. In what, as you already noted, is my opinion.

And then took the nuclear option.

Again, entirely within FD's rights.
