Which is strange as most of the major Youtubers and their followers are siding with Jupiter on this one.
Sounds like they need to influence harder...

How to lose the war and still get the HIP 54530 permit. Maybe. Normally obtaining a permit requires the player to become allied with the faction issuing it. Doing missions for the faction in neighboring systems accomplishes this but a system with this faction has to be within 15LY of the permit locked system to obtain it. So some in deep space systems are not obtainable or factions such as Jupiter Division only local to the permit system. That is the game.
In past years a player was offered an ascension mission to get the permit. Now being allied they just give it to you. Oh well.
After the war one megaship will be authorized to issue HIP 54530 permits to 'those who meet their requirements'. That is somewhat vague as what exactly are those requirements? Something like 'those who meet the community goal requirements' would sadly narrow it down. Still what if Frontier also means getting allied with the correct faction on the megaships like normal play?
Jupiter Division megaship Victory's Forge will move to HIP 55014.
Silver Legal megaship Wings of Justice will more to Ts'ao Tach.
Both of these systems meets the 15LY requirement.
So for fun I'm covering both sides. I fight for Jupiter Division in a 4 rail 1 beam Fer de Lance already at top 50 percent. Sad really as it takes a lot longer for kills with Elite Vultures using rails with a HOTAS versus a mouse accuracy than a dedicated CZ Corvette but fun. I've increased my rep up to friendly with Jupiter and also unfriendly with Silver. That is how Conflict Zones work so never play them in your home system.
Then I switched to my 240t cargo/combat Python (against NPCs) and ran missions out of Mccandless Beacon in CHI-1 HYDRAE becoming allied with Silver Legal. This does not effect Jupiter Division rep and back to the war becoming allied with them with another few million bounties to go. Rinse and repeat which keeps the game interesting.
After the war I may be in the top CMDRs which may not mean a lot if Jupiter loses. But I'll be allied with both the Jupiter Division and the Silver Legal so we will see if that offers opportunities to get the HIP 54530 permit. If not I had fun doing it and maybe that is the point awaiting Odyssey.

Same as usual. I can't recall any single CG where the Federation didn't win. Usually the opposing side shows much more media presence, but the Feds just win. The others talk, the Feds just get things done.
From an Imperial perspective, it's effectively a Fed civil war. Grab the popcorn and enjoy the show.
(It's also effectively over already - Jupiter Division is being thumped - and the permit that comes as a top 75% reward will be available afterwards through other means. So no burning need to get involved anyway.)
But what else does an experienced player do awaiting Odyssey? It has been years since I played in a combat zone. Doing it for a community goal was interesting and refreshes my 'rusty' combat skills for all the new challenges the Devs have added since long ago.

But keep in mind the discounted outfitting only starts at tier 2 (5%) with an additional 5% a tier after that.
Having billions in credits and all my ships engineered not a big deal. Getting the permit is the challenge.

I've only banked 10M for Silver and I'm in the top 25%, perhaps you all still have a chance after all... Yes I will be switching sides to Jupiter soon
The Federation. The Emperor is against The Club, and Rochester seems to have strong connections.
Sure, Hudson has connections too, but he could be out soon if Frontier writers decide so. We don't know how the fall of Jupiter Division will affect the trial and the Hudson presidency.

I tried but my small combat ship, it's 200 strength shield and 2 burst cl 2 laser couldn't compete with only medium to large ship. (even their shields are hard to get down) (low intensity cz)

you combine your fire with your allies... team work and get the combat bonds... exactly the same way you go from Sidewinder to python in high res sites...

Stick to Low CZs, stay close to your allies and assist with their kills if you're not flying an engineered combat ship, you'll still get Combat Bonds from them
The NPCs in CZs a can be quite well engineered and prove to be a tough challenge for combat beginners.
