I got the metal-alloy. I tried to donate it. Didn't work. Now it disappeared from cargo hold. Gigantic waste of time. Was upset but "Hey must be a glitch."
Ha. I can't submit a ticket or report. System wont let me. Cant look at other reports of the same problem. So I'm posting here. I don't care that there is a bug or a glitch or whatever, but i'm ed that I cant report it of contact anybody at Frontier. This is evidently the only thing that works at all.

Since you posted in the PC section: take a look at your CMDR logs. Most user friendly way would through EDDiscovery.

Can you tell me where you got the meta alloys from, I spent 6hours flying from one system to another that were supposed to have it but didn't

There are many places to get Meta Alloys (MA) in the game - but these can change over time - beware of old guides as they may be out-of date! Buy them You Need: Cargo space How many MA? 1 every 10 minutes Darnielle's Progress in Maia has 1T of MA - so you can just buy them - one every 10...

This would be my first donation ever, I've been working my way towards filicity from Sothis in a asp explorer doing bounty hunting and exploration on the way. Then realized that I needed one ton of meta alloys, so my last session saw me doing almost 200ly looking for it. I used one of the apps to find meta but when I arrived there they had none at all. Do I have to wait for it to spawn or just keep flying... Help me out 🧐

If you FSS/DSS planets on the way to Maia you will see Thargoid POIs. Check em out...

One specific place in the Galaxy sells them, 2 at a time iirc, cant buy more if 2 in Cargo?

these are the 2 gameplay loops / choices / journeys you're supposed to go on, I did both in one go. Its supposed to be a mini expedition for really new pilots. If you do it as that its pretty good at introducing a few things in-game at the right time.

Plenty of FCs in Deciat sell em usually but finding one with open access is trickier, go by the FC names advertising firstly....or use Inara

I hate to say this but you really must have a very short attention span or just can't be bothered to look on these fora or do a google. Just for an example I have posted several times as to how to submit a support request (I am not connected to F D). If you can't be bothered to exercise your little grey cells then maybe the game is not for you. Have a read here and see if it helps (probably won't).

Arrived where - and who were "they"?

There are two official ways to get MAs:
  • buy it from Darnielle's Progress in Maia. Expensive, boring, and the amount is restricted.
  • find a (Thargoid) Barnacle that is ripe and pluck them yourself. Free, may become very interesting, pick up whatever you can carry (and sell it for a good profit)

The second option may require some running around, as the Barnacles within the Pleiades are in a sorry state, and apparently the Canonn group haven't been updating their database (which made finding them much easier) for some time.
The unofficial way is even more boring, as it involves finding a player (group) who is willing to sell some to you. CMDR LeKeno is offering this service in his thread.

Other reports of MAs on arbitrary FCs, e.g. via Inara or EDDB, should be treated with a lot of caution, as all FCs are player owned and stuff for sale might change rapidly - or be limited to squadron members. Contact the FC owner if in doubt.

Okay so first. I didnt have a problem finding a way to submit a report. It wouldn't let me. Everytime I filled it out and went to send it. It would tell me they weren't receiving reports. So take your snippy attitude elsewhere. Second. I tried customer support as well. Same problem. It's not that I couldn't FIND ways to report problems. It's that none of them were working. So after searching for an hour online, I finally just settled on posting here.

I found a way to request replacement for a lost item. That finally successfully went through. It will be days till I hear about it, I'm sure. So I'm just gonna go back and try again. To everyone else that gave helpful suggestions thank you. To anyone who had problems finding the alloys, I bought it at darnielle's progress as mentioned by others.

I logged in today and the item was replaced. It may have been very difficult to report the problem, but I must say having it resolved next day is incredible. Thank you Frontier for handling this so quickly. Truly helped with my frustration. I have rarely ever had a company resolve something so quickly. Again TY.

It may have been that a simple re-log or reset fixed it, its often a solution to small problems. You will almost certainly need to relog after getting Felicity to G4 for something else to happen.

A week ago I needed 16 Meta-Alloys to open Meta Alloy Hull Reinforcement. Found an good system to harvest Meta-alloys. Hyades Sector AQ-Y b81 planet C2. There is, if I remember it right, 3 Barnacle sites on that planet. One of them is an Barnacle forest where I got 32t Meta-Alloys.

If I can get there, how would I harvest them. You see this would be my first try, and would l come up against opposition. Thanks CDR.

It's easy.

You fly there and then deploy your SRV near to the forest. Then use your SRV to drive towards the barnacles and shoot the "arms" to release the meta alloys (or other ingredients).

There are Thargoid Scavengers to blast too - they do attack if you get too close.

When I was there last week a Thargoid scout showed up and I fair near pooped my pants, especially as I was murdering scavengers just beforehand, but it ignored me.

There was another player there, but despite a cheery 07 and flashing my lights they ignored me.

It's well worth doing!

If you've never prospected surface materials with the SRV before: its a bit more involved than that, but you'll manage - we all did.

Here's a general surface prospecting video from D2EA. Haven't watched it myself, but he's usually reliable:


If you know how to do this and then land near a (live) Barnacle (forest), it should be obvious.
