Death to all Fleet Carriers, what what

No point having a baby carrier, if you can't throw it around too. That's why they have padding old chap ;)
I don't fly bum first :) unless I have a nice bottle of 'The Glenrothes' at hand.

Enough space for 1 large, 2 medium and 3 small would do me.

Edit- and the ability to store me bits.

I think the original Dev expectation was that they wouldn't be sustainable, who do they listen to?

They surely underestimated peoples ability to adapt to their expectation.

Or.. is this how it was intended to be played out as it causes contention which , well, sells.

They are here, they look ugly in maps, can I filter them out please. I did save up for one but I have not purchased yet.

They seem to be losing the gaming aspect and are focused on the sales/time-spent aspect it's sad really for such an immense game.
If they gave us everything we all wanted, would we be happy/sated or would we, Just, Want, More?

I use my carrier DAILY
Had it since the beginning
I kid you not... i would quit the game if they took it from us

Only my perspective but it could have been better, I know it's not an issue for some but the offline upkeep done me.

I'm glad you find it useful.

Ah, I think you're talking about small versions of fleet carriers? I had in mind baby carriers, the devices that let you carry babies. And thus throw them around :)

27 mil a week for me, 320 mil for 3 months i dont even turn stuff off.

I am 5000 ly out, have mined and explored uncharted systems, made that whole amount in 2 days out here with the carrier and at a relaxed pace.

I often come back with 5000 ore, another 5000 odds and ends stored on the carrier, like mission item things food, power gens etc. will shuttle ore to sell and do missions from carrier to station at the same time TINY HOP.

One Jump to any engineer

All my ships come with me, all my mods with me. no waiting for transfers.

I run 2 accounts, all ships from second account with me as well.

heck... you can scan wake echos just off your carrier, ships here all the time at the bubble

Park right at combat locations, repair refit right back into battle.

If i get in a crowded system, i do my business and leave asap. i hate crowds, i like the quiet places mostly

I often don't have the time to spend maybe that's my reason, I have a few Billion saved up, I may just jump in (no pun intended) based on your replies.

If I do I will give a wee bit of feedback as I like the sound of the answers -

"All my ships come with me, all my mods with me. no waiting for transfers."

"I run 2 accounts, all ships from second account with me as well."

"heck... you can scan wake echo's just off your carrier, ships here all the time at the bubble"
Thanks bud

I don’t intend to deny your experience but I do struggle to understand it.

The moment I cleared the 5bnCr required, I got a carrier. I had no money left to add any services, I didn’t have enough to transfer my ships to it but I’m a good worker and I earned enough eventually, doing mostly what I did to get the funds to pay for it in the first place. I now had the services I wanted, had all my stuff on it. I went straight out into the black with it.

I’ve never had a functioning market on it, never sold a thing from it. I did have to start from scratch in the mining department having only dabbled at it before.

Last year I took a break from the game, something like 8 weeks. I had enough in the bank to let the upkeep happen with no fears of losing it to the repo man, never even switched a service off.

I currently have about 1,5bn in the Carrier balance. Just under 100,000 ship balance. That is after I just purchased a Phantom and kitted it out for combat.

My point being, the upkeep on my carrier is around 13m a week. I think no more of that amount than anyone does when hitting refuel, repair and reload when docked at a station. Who even looks at the cost of that? It’s chump change.

So I don’t understand a financial objection to it. If it is a principle thing, ‘Why should I pay one week for something I didn’t use’, I don’t really get that either. I don’t get let off 2 weeks rent for my home because for those 2 weeks I was in a hotel on holiday.

If I have a gripe with the upkeep it is this; apparently some deliveries must happen, fuel for my ships and ammo. Either that or I appear to be carrying and endless supply. No, at some unseen point, I must get a delivery of this stuff. Why cant they also deliver a tank full of trit as part of the upkeep at the same time?

Are you talking about ladies? :)

I couldn't throw mine around she weighs 3 times more than me.

No hold on your talking about 'Baby' 'Carriers' like the ones for cars? I think?

It's not experience Lorenzo, I don't have one and would not decry anyone who has.

I currently have 6.6 Billion but I will not commit to playing for the sake of amassing 13 million a week (or any) amount really to keep it.

The refuelling thing is terrible to as I believe you still have to transfer increments between a ship and carrier.

Just my take but Star Fire made a couple of very good points so I may give it a go.

Is there a way to stop them appearing in the System Map? I have no interest in them and they just get in the way.

If they can't be toggled off, could all the ones in orbit around the same star/planet/moon at least all be grouped into one symbol instead of seeming to fill and distort the whole System Map?

I've been saying the same exact thing, for months, fully agree with this whole thread. There are too many carriers, too many people. Galaxy is full, go home

Ditto.

I'd cut down on my playing time for ED, after DW2 & had started looking at other games like Space Engineers.
The launch of Carriers got me back to playing again consistantly.

It's player's choice here but I'v never left my Carrier in a bubble System for more than a couple of days - & that was for re-filling with Tritium. I never experienced the issues that other's had with being stuck in certain Systems which were crammed full of Carriers.
Simple fore thought & planning, not going into a crowded System but staying in a nearby 'empty' System & doing the work from that base.

I'v got all my main goto Ships on my Carrier & go on 'extended' trips to new area's of the Galaxy that I'v not Explored before.

As to other player's on my Carrier. The 'Arrabella' is open for other's to jump onto, should they want to. There'll be no itinery of where I go, so don't moan if I take you somewhere that you don't want to go to................I will not be checking at any time who's on board.

How's about something along the line of carrier parking permits?
Permits could be issued to carriers based on system faction reputation, so if your allied with one or more faction in system you can park close to those faction planets or stations, if not allied you have to park way out near the outer bodies until you earn the rep to get closer in. If the factions are hostile against you then you either can't park in system or local system authority ships attack or clamp your carrier until you either increase your faction rep or do some missions issued by local faction to earn the parking permit.
Those who don't have required permits would have to park their carriers in the nearest uninhabited system therefore freeing up space at CGs and popular mining/cz systems.
Would also stop alot of instances issues we on console experience in high population systems.

Just food for thought, and no im not a traffic warden.... honest

I think one of the issues in making FCs vulnerable to anything, is that you could get an FC filled with 'gankers' who basically zip round the Bubble, barging a lot of single CMDRs who have FCs out of systems, and no real way to fight back. Not least of all because I could gank your FC on my PS4 and you cant defend it on your PC.

Let them be hidden like any other megaship, so that only a pass within 1000ls in SC can detect them.

I think there needs to be a whole megaships pass. FCs feel like something that is half-done. There should be more variety/different purposes - e.g. megaships with mining/exploring/cargo/combat/carrier/base specialisations

Hello fine Cmdrs and RELSPI,

One has got to pondering (it happens when the gin runs freely), when will we be able to obliterate the scum of the galaxy from the galaxy. Obviously one is referring to FC's, what what?

This is a feature that FDev need to implement now.

PS.
I look forward to your intelligent, insightful and moderated responses, what what
obviously it's a very expensive sort of scum, not just your everyday pond or bath scum.
