Engineer base landing

Someone, not so long ago, told me that when you drop near some engineer bases, you can hear electronic voice saying this: "please, observe docking protocols".
After several years with ED, it was an incredible discovery to me. Because for all these years, and countless times I've landed on various engineer bases, I've never heard ^ this exactly...

So, the questions are:
  • Does anyone else hear what I hear?
  • Is that some kind of a joke?
  • Or am I just crazy?
  • Did someone lie to me?...

That's just cruel and... strange.

Felicity Farseer is saying this afaik.

She is anyway a little strange - think of "your arrival has been noted" - how does that compare to a friendly welcome like "you are most welcome, Cmdr" - but not so F. Farseer - she is most likely a quite dry and humorless person.

But I guess that is not an electronic voice - she is older, it might just be her voice on the com.

Some engineers user automated systems instead of human controllers for greeting docking permission - that will be the electronic voice. I can't say that I recognise, or don't recognise that particular phrase, although it sounds reasonable and in line with the inane text these wannabe ATCs spit out.

What gets to me are the Human wannabe ATCs on planetary bases on airless worlds telling me to "Descend to flight level three zero zero", when "Flight levels" are based on atmospheric pressure (and thus meaningless if there is no atmosphere).

Well, I visited her today 3 times - and I'm quite confident that she puts it that way - not always, there are alternative greetings. And I really think, she is in person on com - or at least she has recorded it.

I unlocked her just a few hours ago - and I had to visit her 3 times - first to get the info what she wants, second time was, when I returned with the meta alloys (well, I thought I did), but then I realized, that one of those hatch break limpet attacks on the way was successful and my meta alloys gone - so back to Maia - and so I visited her for the 3rd time - around 1500 Lyrs in total. I think I heard her saying this to me on my first visit.

The only one I can think of that doesn't have a robot traffic controller is Palin - as he's now at a normal base. Maybe the OP switched off NPC voices at some point?

You could be right! I think most of us zone out landing after a while and I haven't visited for a while. Well, ok, last week, but I rarely pay attention :)

(He's the only one who at least has an excuse for not having the robot)

I hear it many times along with "your arrival has been noted"
Maybe because i engineered more than 50 ships and Felicity is one of the favorite stops for applying experimentals.

The thing that i like most is the -heavy suffix they add when you show up in a big ship :)

Turns out my memory was spot on. I visited Palin today to get mass manager for my new deluxe FSD and Abel Laboratory does use a robot voice.

Another mystery solved, CSI: Miami style! :cool:
