CM Arf: Elite/Horizons (PEGI 7?) CMDRs won't instance with Odyssey (higher PEGI rating) CMDRs on non-atmos planets because of rating restrictions

just have a webpage form (same as used in countries that have them for pornographic sites and such) that has to be agreed to by a person over 18 to unlock proper features, otherwise you get to see the other character simply blip out of existence and your gun (and everyone else's) looks like a super soaker and shoots water or water balloon looking things, etc.

as long as it's tied to the account, you should be golden. Not sure what the big deal would be in doing something like that in the launcher.

is cursing is enough to get out of low ratings... how does any game such as elite that has multiplayer chat in the game ever even get considered for such a rating?

i'd think any game that has free-form chat from other players in the game should instantly be set at a minimum to whatever rating a game would get if it sprouted every curse word known and had any other kind of vile speech in it. As a min rating possible.

Maybe if the age rating agencies won't allow a menu option for Elite/Horizons CMDRs ("I'm okay seeing higher age-rated content - Y/N"), I wonder if an optional store add-on (50p/£1?) for it will satisfy said agencies as it's a separate purchase, for those CMDRs that cannot purchase Odyssey for whatever reason yet want to instance on planets with their Odyssey-owning friends?
No, that isn't how it works.

Or buy Odyssey of course :D
You can certainly solve it via DLC with a different PEGI/ESRB rating. For example, Total war: Rome 2 had Blood and gore DLC with 18+ rating (with base game rated lower) and I think there was a few other games going that way, too. :)

I still haven't worked out what it was changed from, but it could hopefully be just bad typing!

Can we still bomb children in odyssey though? I'll be very disappointed if not, perhaps to the level of open lettering.
What's this bombing children nonsense? Back in the day people were encouraged to boom babies! 👩‍❤️‍👨

"obviously if it is a 7+ game you cannot see a player getting shot in the face with a kinematic rifle etc etc"

It’s kind of a token decision knowing the kids are going to bug their parents anyways to get Odyssey.
As in CoD, Doom, Murder Death Kill etc.(personal fave)

if we're setting the graphic violence up in a DLC and changing the base game to be safe for kiddies, Then i want mortal kombat style death graphics in the DLC.

I want to see heads explode in a shower of blood with headshots with my rail gun ... i want to see blood splats on ship hulls when i nose dive / land on players. If i gut shot an npc ...i want them to fall to their knees and have their blood just spray out (due to low pressure)

additional fatalities: burning players alive with thrusters. Running them over with an srv, dismembered arms and legs getting stuck on ship / srv hulls and strewn about. A knife mode for stealth attacks so you can stab other players in the neck to avoid triggering security

You can raise the age rating on a DLC/Expansion, but that can't alter the age rating of the base game.
Yes, that's why Total War did it this way. My point is that you can add blood via (paid) DLC with higher rating for those interested in it and keep the game base "bloodless" with rating untouched (and lower). :)

Yes, but Stuart wants them to change the age rating, or allow users to choose to access content of a higher age rating that the game states.
