Newcomer / Intro How can make Airkeyboard working with ED?

Hi all,
I'm new at playing with Elite Dangerous (Horizons) and suddenly I found my old keyboard unnacceptable to enjoy the game.
I've read around that somebody have succesfully used Airkeyboard on iPad. I've also seen in Internet plenty of nice custom keyboard layouts!
I tried to install everything (i.e. client on my iPad, server on my "Windows10 64bit Professional" OS based PC) and everything works like a charm at OS level.
It even works fine within the ED launcher... and up to ED main menu screen... but when the actual game starts... nothing at all.
Whatever key I press on the virtual keyboard, no effects.

Has anybody actually managed to make it working?
Am I doing something wrong? Anything I can do?
Or maybe is there any alternative virtual keyboard I can use (and customize the look of, very important!) on my iPad?

Hi, of course yes. But right when trying... whatever key I press on the virtual keyboard doesn't get captured/recognized at all. Like if Airkeyboard isn't active or connected.
Of couse it is, since when moving back to the game menu... it again works perfectly.
I'm really puzzled 🙇‍♀️

I decided to go for Airkeyboard since it's for the iPad and there are nice layouts available already.
I've seen LEA, but I see it isn't much updated (last update in App store is from 2018). Nevertheless, thanks for hint. I'm going to play with it.
Roccat looks like not being available in iOS app store.

Thanks also for the above hint. I actually tried to run Airkeyboard server "as administrator" but with no luck.
I will also try to run ED "as administrator". I will let you know.

It seems that Airkeyboard hasn't been updated since 2013. Am I looking at the right app? If I am, then Windows 10 shipped with security features intended to prevent automated acceptance of the UAC prompt, which might be interfering with the server in full-screen mode.

Perhaps try running Elite in borderless mode to see if that changes the (mis)behaviour. You shouldn't need to run Elite as admin.

From Apple App Store, the latest update pushed for Airkeyboard was on May 2020: https://apps.apple.com/it/app/air-keyboard/id541873446
Nevertheless... I tried LEA Extended Input and it works perfectly.
So I'm not going to spend more time on the other app anymore. Maybe just an email to the developer, to keep him aware of the issue.

Next step is to customize the layout of LEA screen, to match my needs. The one comes with the app doesn't fit (e.g. organization of buttons, some commands missing, etc)
So I would say "mission almost accomplished" :)

I use a joystick and want to have in the virtual keyboard just what I cannot have there (plus a bit of redundancy for completeness).

LEA is very customisable, although it's not the most intuitive. The Android client is also a bit power-hungry, so you might want to keep a charger close by!
