Resource Extraction Sites are finally better than Double Hotspots!

I have mined at a haz res and it was fine, didn't get any agro and stayed within around 20km for very high % of resource.
Was in a pretty meaty T10 mind you 😁

Thanks for the tip. So does a Res site function as a hotspot for ALL minerals? So its like a 10x overlap? Or does it seem to amplify certain minerals/metals?
only laser mined ones. deep core, surface and subsurface are not affected by the bounus. As for res bounus, it increases how much fragments each space rock drops, with haz res being double(although I would advice aginst mining in a haz res as there is no cops, high res has cops and no noticable drop in fragments) and a increase to fragment resource percentage

Ok cool. So the rocks drop more fragments but the percentages contained are unaffected. So does that also mean the material yields are higher too? A rock with High material content in a res site will drop more material fragments than a High material rock in a random place?

actually the percentage of the ore in a fragement is also increased, say if you mine a 40% plat rock outside of the site, you get 30% ore platinium fragment In a haz res, it also increases that by about 70-140%(all values are pristine rings). It does not increase the raw engineering drop though.

Another bonus is that you can take a Type-10 laser miner equipped with 3 medium mining lasers + 4 large and 2 small engineered turrets and then mine minerals AND pirates at the same time. Just keep your cargo hatch open to let the minerals and both the raw and manufactured materials in.

Mining in a T-10 would just be...torture though.

I've only ever done serious laser mining in a Cutter. How does the T-10 compare? What do you like about it? Details man, details! :p
The cockpit is much better, especially in VR.
It's (astounding as this sounds) a bit more maneuverable than a Cutter (less drift).

The rest is plain worse.
Less shields, less speed, less cargo space, weapons on paper are a bit better but that's debatable (you can use 4 c2 mining laser on the cutter, on the T10 only 3 and two c1).
I build two mining Type 10 and sold both after a while.

I really feel for the T-10 because it's a ship purpose built for combat with turrets. And turrets are nerfed lumps of dog poo in this game.

Back to mining, yeah, your estimation is what I figured. But I'm always looking for a new project so if there was some amazing thing about the T-10 I just didn't get, I wanted to know the deal lol.

The cockpit of the T9/T10 are amazing in VR, it's really really fantastic.

If the ships weren't so bad compared to their competitors.
As a Trader the Cutter is so much better, especially in open, and as a miner the Corvette or Cutter are much better than the Type10.

It's so sad. I like to fly my T9 cows for short range trading quite alot, even if my Cutters are better.

I even built a T9 explorer. It has everything, just the supercruise maneuverability is craaaaaap.

That's another point I missed. Supercruise turning in Type10? You're better off turning in normal space 😂

Thing is hilarious. I often like to think that the pirate who decided to go after a fully armed t10 can’t tell the difference between it and a type 9.
As Big Mac said, shields are worse, less cargo space. But imo a better turret boat, plus it does not look ”off” when mining If you care about iMmErSiOn(something as fabulous as cutter does not look like it belongs to mining imo) t-10? It fits right in. Plus i get bored after filling 300 tonnes anyway.
supercruise agility is definitely not its strong points, but if you get intridicted by some NPC, drop out, blow him up, hop back to super crusie and continue on your way.

Yeah SuperCruise handling is a thing I used to discount, but once you start using a ship for months and months, it's a HUGE deal. Like I loved my Anaconda, but I got to the point where I just couldn't deal with the SC turning any more.

I can see why there are people who do nearly everything, even explore, in a Corvette. The SC handling is just that much better than everything else in it's class.

Yes.

Except, you spelled Imperial Clipper wrong.

😁

I personally find the T-10 more pleasant to fly in the rings than the Cutter, with G5 dirty thrusters on both, the T-10 turns better and feels much more responsive (or perhaps less unresponsive). I can cram a swarm of 13 collectors in it, power 3 medium mining lasers (with weapons focused distributor), and keep 256 cargo space which is the sweet spot to sell the minerals while avoiding the bulk tax. (it's also my limit before I start getting a bit tired of mining).

It has great view and enough turning so I can select and prospect my next rocks while my collector army is vacuum cleaning the place.

I surely wouldn't use it for core mining as it would be too cumbersome for that, but for laser mining it is the one who worked best for me so far. In RES sites it has the bonus of having 4 spare large turrets (plus 2 small) which can be set to mine pirates on their own while I focus on rocks.

Of course this is my personal view, may not work the same for you, but if you have the spare credits, try it sometime, may end up being surprised! :)

I think I need to try a T10 at laser mining. I don't have the rank for the corvette yet... I need to get that done at some point as well. Thx for all the info
