Any increased danger in Solo Mode for these areas?

Continuing my barrage of annoying newbie questions...
So I woke up in detention in SPF-LF 1 quite far from my "home" system and am about to make the long trek back while exploring each system. Taking a look at SPF-LF 1, I'm seeing a LOT of rather .... colorfully named stations that I figure must be player-created? Some are marked "private" and some specify pirate activity...
My question is, since I don't have another rebuy of Cr in bank, I'm playing it safe and doing my trek in Solo Mode. Do I have anything to worry about checking these areas out? (Presuming I have 0 cargo and no active missions.) Does NPC activity change around where PC activity would be different were I in Open Mode? Does that make sense?

Prison systems often only have that Prison Ship and no other bases so more than likely FCs you seeing.

Private - only the owner or allowed people can dock eg friends, squad
Pirate? - I think you mean Notorious Docking Allowed or Black Market available? - possibly owned by more nefarious Cmdrs possible not. Some will be gank HQ yes but only from players not NPCs.

Pirate Bases / Illegal Installations - often around the last planet or moon in the system. Often called 'Blacksomething' or sound Piratey. Pirates there usually leave you alone if you aint carrying anything, usually, but they also have exclusion zones in them and can give bounties. Yes illegal installations can give Bounties recognised by the local security forces and stations for flying through them for too long.

NPCs as said above, the same in all modes, their rank and skill depends on your combat rank not your Mode.

OK, cool cool. Like I said, I'm still very new, so I'm clueless about FCs. I just look at the system map for SPF-LF 1 and saw a couple dozen odd icons with interesting names daisy-chained together. :) Figured they were bases or stations or something. (Still probably have too much EVE Online in mind.)

Yeah, BOTH "Private" AND "Pirate". I slept since yesterday when I first looked over the system before deciding not to make any moves til fresh today :) but I noticed on some it said "Pirate activity" where it would say "Trade" for other locales.

OK, not wanting to get too tangential in this thread, but now I'm curious -- what's this about thread locking? Why would a thread get locked? By whom?
Threads can be lock if they go off topic, get offensive etc, hang around long enough you'll see plenty.

Moderators. They administrate the forum.
O_O uhm, ok, totally new but, did I do something that might get the thread locked?? :( I've posted a few questions on the forum the last couple days and haven't noticed any issues... Don't wanna be doing something wrong here :(

There is a newbie section on the forum so they may move the thread there but you're not doing anything wrong to me, frankly I like seeing someone starting out in the game asking questions instead of overwhelmed and quitting.

You. Not that I can see... It's just threads about open vs solo devolve into contention/spiral of control. Very heated subject, many threads are locked.

Rule 1. Never fly without rebuy.
Rule 2. Never fly without rebuy.
Rule 3. Can you guess what it is? ;)

I'd head back to a safe system asap and do a few courier missions quick to get enough credits for a rebuy...then go out exploring.
If you're a semi competent pilot then it shouldn't be an issue as NPCs shouldn't pose much of a threat.

You are fine asking stuff mate - it's just a thing that happens if people get overexcited (so the mods lock threads).

To answer your question - try to ignore carriers right now, unless you are low on fuel. NPC behavior won't change with the mode you are in, just you won't get ganked by any heroes if you stay solo until you get the rebuy back. And as you have no missions or cargo, it's unlikely (but not impossible) that an NPC will pull you. If it does, submit and jump to a near system asap and you'll be kosher.

Why would a thread get locked?
Glad we all took that as a question and not a challenge or request for a demonstration :)
but I noticed on some it said "Pirate activity" where it would say "Trade" for other locales.
ooh I dunno actually, never noticed that, may just mean BM available may mean theres some been attacks near it and not as safe, will have to have a look and see.

No not at all. Theres one atm that may go down the same lines but so far holding up, but its when it just descends into insults or intolerance or personal attacks or politics. You usually get a general friendly warning on the thread anyway to get back on track or else.

Heh no I know!! I had exactly 1 rebuy amount when I went on this mission and ended up shot down and sent to a detention block several jumps from "home"! Which is why I'm asking about things that could be dangerous before I make my trip back :)
Now I know to not fly without TWO rebuys in bank! :D

With time you'll get used to differentiating the little icons in the nav menu on the left. I think you might be looking at them in the forward view, which doesn't help really.

This isn't a criticism btw - just another thing I thought worth mentioning as you're new. I imagine there will be a list somewhere you can see what the different ones look like, so a bit more research on the to-do list!

As you're already aware mate, there is a huge amount to learn, but you're doing great so far - and as harsh as it may also seem, I think the best way to learn a lot of this is by mistakes, and most of us here have done exactly the same dude! You're doing great, keep that in mind buddy :)
