Engineer the FSD booster into a Mod

I would like to be able to Engineer the FSD booster into a Mod,
so I can get back a slot on my cramped ship.
Let us be able to go to an engineer who will rework the booster, and add it to a drive.
OR
Let it work like the SRV bay, where it opens a extra slot connected to the FSD slot.
Why must there always be a penalty, for doing more work in the game ?

I think the term ‘penalty’ is a bit excessive, it’s a pay off for gaining all those extra ly per jump. Gain the ly, lose a slot.
Why ?
After going through all the work and time, to get something, be given a penalty for doing it.
Does every step forward, have to have a step back come with it ?

Well, I don’t see it as a penalty. I see it as fair trade. It’s going to be a squeeze on some ships but not others.

I suppose the other issue is, if an engineer folds the booster into your drive, are you going to be able to put another booster in an optional slot?

It’s like a sheet of paper isn’t it; how many boosters can you fold into it before your ship becomes a technological singularity ushering in a new age of boundless space travel?

Hey, great idea, let engineers add up to 5 boosters on one Drive.
Finally a contender for the Anaconda.

"Congratulations, you've unlocked a module that increases your jump range!"

"How could you do this to me?!?!" 😡

I'm generally sympathetic to complaints regarding ED, but holy moly. This has to be the most ridiculous one I have seen yet. A module being a module is a penalty. That is going in the scrapbook.

I get that some people want a ship with 300,000mj of shields, hardpoints for 17 weapons including 10 class 4s, 257 internals and enough armour to make it denser than a white dwarf but really, the ships in the game provide god knows how many options already for creative equipment fit-outs. We don't need lolships.

Point of View Old Bean, when I went to get mine I thought it was a mod, not a module.

I think though that we accept that for any improvement there is always a price.

Put a bigger engine in your car.

Advantage, you go faster. Price you pay, you get through more fuel.

Put a 1kwatt sound system in your car.

Advantage, you get to hear the tunes you love at high volume. Price you pay, you look like a splasher when stuck in traffic or playing Billy Ray Cyrus.

It’s just natural.
