Alpha 29th March

I'm going through my head with the actual humans I do play with.
They'd have me do the ship piloting for sure.
I'm willing to bet they'd also want me doing the fighting.... So that's a bit of a problem (not on frontier's part, my team's part). My pals get a bit jittery when bullets and lasers start flying.
I guess we can go pick weeds.

If those drones are meant to be providing security to the base then they seem a bit crap.
Yes, but what type of base was this? Low, Med, High Sec? As for difficulty it looked not much different from the first-middle levels/areas from pretty much any single player FPS campaign. With about the same level of mission complexity. This mission was basically...

1. Accept mission
2. Fly to destination planet
3. Navigate to mission base
4. Land & Disembark
5. Navigate to target building (pilot on overwatch)
6. Avoid contact/conflict with guards
7. Use Arc Cutter (Cutting Mode) to cut into door panel
8. Use Energy Link (Overload Mode - Illegal) to cut door power/overload airlock
9. Kill innocent workers
10. Find reactor panel & hack panel
11. Disengage regulator & set off alarm
12. Defend while waiting for shutdown
13. Take regulator
14. Ruuuun!

We also got a glimpse of how two different suits work
1. The combat suit: Shield & Laser Rifle
2. I presume the scavenger suit? Shield, Laser Pistol, and at least two tools - Cutting Tool & Energy Link (Syphon & Overload Modes)

So, not just another Death Match FPS pewpew game then?

I'm not crazy about Odyssey, but I'll say this: Huge fireballs and seeing the nose my ship glowing red/orange from atmo re-entry would greatly increase the possibility I purchase said Odyssey LOL.

This. Exactly this!

I think with the raw push power of ED's ships reactors there wouldn't be any need to enter at a fireball velocity.
However there will probably be the glide, which is pretty fast... but it's kinda a frame shift and traditional propulsion mix... i don't know

So its basically a disable station generator mission but on legs.

Yes this date is good. I really hope i have enough spare memory for this on my ssd. 😮
looking forward to the savaging. And space botany.

Flimley

Actually no. In a ship it has way less to it.

1. Accept mission
2. Fly to destination planet
3. Navigate to mission base
4. Point ship at target array & scan/shoot
5. Fly away

Edit: The mission they demoed actually looks like it might be a bit more difficult (& possibly more manicly fun) if attempted solo. The scavenger suit tools looked pretty essential, so that would mean doing the whole thing without any covering fire, and with only a pistol for escape.

Our ships can barely do 5+G descents without crazy theatrics though.

Meh, give me the fireball entry please! :ROFLMAO:

They even said with both of them they were killed multiple times lol

Did you also get the impression that they may have also lost the ship at least once?

Watching the demo again I noticed that the 2 wing players names changed a few times also... so certainly a mash up of attempts - looking forward to finding out how hard it really is!

ETA: No the wing names didn't change - just the focus on player!

Begs the question why they didn't show how hard it actually is.

Or show up how inexperienced they are?

I'll be looking for wingmates the day the alpha drops - and livestreaming it (although expect no viewers as I'm not an influenza) just in case a couple of friends wish to see me dying in a variety of embarrasing ways :)
