I did do all that. Used a Sidewinder, looking right out of the top and just using lateral thrusters to move, and just turning with the ship to get the pans.

After actually spending some time getting the footage together I'd love an offline only option of just being a camera, nothing else.

The engine demands it, it's so freaking beautiful and deserves to be lavished with gifts of exquisite videos

So, just to be clear...

You are not technically removing the canopy overlay before recording, but you're recording thru the top of the canopy, in a way that's not encroaching on the image?

Yes, that's what he's doing.

I'll admit that the graphics are pretty amazing, and details like animating the solar flares is an added detail that most people would skip. Static images would be enough for the player as they flash by... but not. They're animated.
