The most frustrating part of this game, by far.

This annoys me so damn much. so, for whatever reason you're going very slow not using your FSD. The FSD having to be locked on to a target, if that target happens to be behind a planet or something and you're being attacked, you're pretty much screwed.

Even if you're not being attacked and simply want to what you're locked on to, you have to go to a different system only to return to where you were in order to get to where you wanted in the first place.

I hope this makes sense, and there's a way around it.

Bind hyperjump to different key than supercruise. Problem solved.

you can enter supercruise clear the obstacle and jump, bind the jump and supercruise to two different keys. Problem solved.

Agree with Zieman. I use KB&M. My Jump is bind to F and supercruise to C. Both very close and can be reached with the same finger without taking eyes of the screen... Key binding is just a beginning. Give it more time, at some point this will not even be mild annoyance...

Yes, I have two adjacent keys on the numeric keypad (0 and .) for hyperjump and supercruise respectively.

Odd that Frontier thought it was a good idea to bind them both to the same key by default.

I just deselect my destination and enter SC. ED then reselects my destination and I can then hyperjump when in alignment. That's with my HOTAS set up and no key rebind. :)

I want an autopilot! No seriously I’m tired of pressing J 3000 times just to get to colonia.
you can use a bot. there is a thread of a pro bot movement with many player factions supporting it:

Alternatively, lock a target for supercruise (e.g. a planet), activate supercruise, clear the obstacle and then press the key for "next waypoint" (or how it's called) to lock back to the original destination again.
This is how I do it, too. Far too many bindings already...

Looks like I'm the only one who doesn't understand what OP is talking about...

1. Choose different target? You can literally choose stars just in front of you by spamming R (your bind may differ) while your getting hammered to high wake.
2. What?...

1000 countdowns in annoying, I get it. Flying on ships with low jump range, which you enjoy, is also annoying and I get it too, since you go through heaps of loading screens when you could use different ship and have much less loading screen. But targeting systems and moving where you want? Never a problem.
