GALNET - 11 MAR 3307 (2) - Galactic Summit Cancelled – NMLA Attacks Superpowers

Everyone so busy talking thargoids, when there's a much bigger threat around, actively killing hundreds of thousands.
Indeed - by cancelling the planned Sirius bounty hunting CG this week, the NMLA have saved (net) about 1.5 million lives. Unfortunately over 5 million had already been killed at the behest of Sirius and the superpowers for this so-called "peace summit" in the two weeks so far.

That’s a whole lot of pirate families going hungry when the breadwinner fails to return with the spoils!

In fairness, given the horrendous inefficiency of piracy as a means of making money, being dead will not harm their earning rate very much.

A Public Information Campaign pointing out that most pirates would multiply both their expected lifetime earnings and their expected lifetime by hundreds if not thousands of times by selling the ship might do more to improve galactic stability than anything out of this summit.

That's not the whole picture though. If those pirates go on to kill let's say 10 more people over the course of their career, then they may have saved those 1.5 million lives, at the expense of another 15 million lives.

Equally if one of the people killed on Lave station was a supervillian plotting to send Lave supernova, that's 25 billion lives saved by the NMLA. It's why utilitarian ethics aren't usable in practice.

But it does go to further prove Delaine's point about the nature and hypocrisy of the superpowers - how many died in ALD's purge of Nova Imperium, for example. Hypocrisy which in this case has had a very direct consequence for the Federation and Alliance: if they'd just taken in Marlinist refugees without sending scapegoats back to the Empire for torture, on the basis that, really, who hasn't attempted to blow up Imperial facilities occasionally ... the NMLA would probably have left them alone.

What if each person killed on Lave station was an NMLA agent plotting to blow up another 9 stations?

Quite what that means I'm not sure any more...

I'd pin this on Universal Cartographics. Despite all this multi-million slaughter for two consecutive weeks on Sirius (I have not engaged in any of the bounty hunting CGs), the system population information remains the same. Clearly the pirates aren't being taken into account as human population, which makes it even worse.

There's also a ton of food being wasted - 106 million tons of food and drinks were delivered for the CG to overfeed the summit (of which I have delivered 25k tons). Now the summit was cancelled... Though I suppose the food can still be used to support the damaged infrastructure during station repairs.

It means the person who was due to discover an anti-dote to death itself and give eternal life has been overlooked in the casualties all along coz villains make better headlines :)

Whats interesting: why was Aisling left out? She is a Duval......is she? I don't understand why the NMLA want to rip apart the Duvals yet leave her alone- especially since she assisted BoyVal when he got attacked.

I don't see why Lave got it, or its connection while Royal Cobalt sat back without a scratch.

I read somewhere (cannot find the source again) that those powerplay powers spared only have one station in their home system with an L-pad. Bombing it would seriouly sabotage powerplay. No clue if that includes Aisling though.

9 stations for the 9 martyrs (that the NMLA themselves killed). 3 for each superpower, so no room for AD system:

Federation: Sol, Nanomam, Rhea
Empire: Achenar, Eotienses, Kamadhenu
Alliance: Alioth, Gateway, Lave

Superpower capital + 2 power HQs. The Alliance only has 1 power, so they had to get creative for Lave. While not BGS-controlled by the Alliance, it is a Mahon-exploited system. There seems to be some lore around it too, being the old capital of the Galactic Cooperative superpower which seems like an older, failed attempt of an Alliance.

So this suggests Aisling is not seen as being important.......I mean, why Patty? I get the urge to explode his stuffz but why not Aisling in his place? Is this retribution for Pattys CG I wonder....

I get the impression that T7 sees her as either 'better' or not a big a target.
