Ships New players screwed over by reckless planning?

You can always unlock Mel Brandon and do the G5 boosters there.
I was just winding up the last CMDR, CMDR Bigmaec...I am rescuing Empire folks to get the Cutter this week...got the best of the Feds (Corvette) but everyone really hyping about the Cutter so might as well rescue these poor trapped folks and get something nice in return...I only grind for the Courier before and love that ship!

I don't have a problem with the story. I've got a problem with the fact that they're inhibiting players' access to an important part of the game when it could easily have been avoided by hitting literally any other station.

Youre right it only hits players who havent unlocked that one yet and want to do it right now. Same when Palin went AWOL. But then recently new players have had easy access to 2 Permits that long term players took much longer to get.

So yes its a game with consequences, thats the point of the game, its not an easy win for everyone all the time.

it has to be annoying if you wanted to do it now, but only advice is to learn that in ED things often dont happen right now or in the way you want them to, so just do something else for a while aka stop grinding and play the game instead. If it breaks the game for you then at least you learned extremely early that this isnt the game for you and can now go and play something you prefer which doesnt have real consequences. Waiting a week or two is nothing compared to losing months of gameplay which can and will happen to you, so take the easy lesson and get out early.

Heavens people have to

Players: Give us a game where actions have real consequences!
Also Players: But not for me! Don't stop me doing anything for a single day!

Plenty of other things to do, even if it's just preparing for upcoming engineer unlocks 🤷‍♀️

Edit: Unless, ofc, you're religiously following a Grinding Guide, in which case you are stuffed and should log out for a couple of weeks (y)
You know it is possible to reply to someone without being a complete....

I'm in the same situation - I can't unlock Marcus Qwent because the Sirius system is in lockdown.

It's plain and simple bad game design to randomly lock parts of the game away. Not everyone has all the time in the world to mess about 'doing other things' while they wait for the game to open the gates again. It usually takes a lot of research to work out what to do in this game and not everyone has got the cash to refit for whatever the devs and the forum bullies think you should be doing this week.

So to most of the people replying in this tread - try to have some empathy for the people who don't have the advantages you do

No. Because it ISN'T SERIOUS PROBLEM. Hard to have empathy for peoble which make giant issues, and severe punishment by...short break from unlocks. I don't complained, when I bought only few units of rare commodity, because systems weren't in boom. I just waited. It doesn't killed my experience in game. If I played months without G5 booster I could do it for few more days.
Just wait few days. Problem solved. Did you rly can't play without G4 PP for few next days?
"I haven't time on other activites, because I MUST unlock next engineer this week"
Money? Researches? So this week is great opportunity to gather money, additional materials, or research :)
Advantages? 99% of this game is about pve, I don't see my "advantages".

Yes this does become tough for players that can focus on only one task at a time. Linear gameplay is important to some.

For all the other players that have multiple ongoing tasks to work on these kinds of things aren't a big deal. Its a hiccup. Either find an alternate method to achieve the task or redirect energy to other priorities. Defintely not a game-breaking event.

I know right, it's like they want players to come together for a special event to help save/repair a lore important location as part of some sort of interactive immersive storytelling medium for their game or something! How rude!
I wouldn’t have a problem with the event if we had a chance to actually prevent them from happening in the first place. I wouldn’t be annoyed if we’d failed to like, shore up security against NMLA threats or something. The fact that it’s completely out of our control is what gets upsetting.

I’ve singled out this quote because I get that, I really do, but at the core of it we as pilots are just grains of sand amongst the stars. I mean, we’ve only fragments of information about the alleged mastermind, Theta Seven. FDev for better or for worse are our omniscient GM and they’ve already got a plot line mapped out, our choice in the matter is how we choose to react to the events that play out.

My big hope is that if they’re gonna keep using their weird Thargoid Enzyme Bombs, I wanna see something actually interesting like the bombs attracting the Thargoids back into the bubble.

Possibly leading us to the Power that is backing/using the NMLA!
Yes, I like it.
Let's attack Li Rong Yui now! (just in case).

Sometimes we had choice, sometimes not.
I want remind about 1 thing.
Next stations were bombed by NMLA.
In 1 of previous CG's (after Eurybia and Ackwanda) we had war in LTT something something, becuase "imperials think, that in this federal systwem exist secret NMLA factory creating bombs".
Victory of federals and cut off next investigation were choice of players.
We can say, that bombed stations are...long term effect of players choices.
Sometimes you can't see all effects of CG after 1 week :)
I'm the only one, which think about current attacks as about effect of this CG? What if this stations were bombed because players defended system, where existed secret lab, where this bombs were made?

Your fault for following a straight line instead of looking for other things you could do in the meantime, like
1) Another important objective that is still open you'd do later anyway, like another discovered engineer or the guardian modules
2) Getting fed/imp ranks for vette or cutter (best time to do so)
3) Getting money for a ship/fleet carrier/something else later
4) Grinding mats you'd need later anyway
5) Rescue as much refugees as you can from Lave Station to reduce the amount of commodities required later to repair the station
6) Play another game if you don't have any other alternative or can't bother seeking one. ED doesn't require a subscription [on PC*] to play, so no wasted money.

*) PS4/XB1 require their equivalent multiplayer support subscriptions to play any other mode than solo.

It’s certainly intriguing how familiar ‘burnt-face man’ Theta Seven seems to be with Thargoid technology, although the aforementioned burnt face suggests it’s not without risks!

There’s definitely something bigger at play, as the prison break mystery earlier this year suggests, and he must have powerful backers to hit every superpower simultaneously... I share your hopes, that this is just the prelude to a much bigger event that shakes the Bubble!
