Creations / Copyright

When making a creation to share with the workshop. If someone uses your scenery in their park, don’t they have to acknowledge that the buildings in their park was created by another player? I just think that credit should be given when credit is due. I created several things that are in this persons park that he has shared on the workshop. No mention that all the buildings were created by me. I just think people who make parks for the community using other people creations should have to give mention.

I think this is the wrong mentality to have. I see the workshop as a place for people to share their creations freely for others without expecting anything in return. I've uploaded things to the workshop, and my only hope is that people enjoy what I made. I would even encourage people to edit my stuff in their own ways. If someone wants to credit or shout out a person who's items they made, go for it. Youtubers do creativity spotlights all the time, as do Frontier CMs on here and on Twitter/Instagram. But I think actively trying to enforce something like that would do more harm than good ultimately. And honestly, it's probably not possible to anyways.

I definitely agree with @Bearcat9948 Im not a great builder by no means but if I noticed someone with something I built I would be more happy with the fact someone is enjoying it. Credit really doesn’t come to mind. Back in the hay days of the zt2 community there was a lot of that going on with giving credit which I can understand to a certain point and personal use content which I felt diminished the community over time imo.

Is it a requirement? No.

However I think and believe is good manners to say something in the lines of:

"Hey! Thanks for having a look. Btw, this that and this was created by this and that fellow PlanZoo creator. Check out his/her workshop here and here..."

Doesn't cost anything. Just some basic etiquette.

But then don't get disappointed if someone doesn't do it. Maybe he/she forgot, he/she doesn't know any better or he/she simply doesn't care.

I think I would just feel nice and happy that somebody wanted to use my creation. I suppose like pro gamers though, when it comes to creations being shown on a monetised thing like Youtube, it is respectful to credit the creator. I would any way.

I think it's good manners to acknowledge someone else's creations in your own builds, but I don't know if it can be an enforced requirement. Like others have mentioned, I am not a very good builder. I can do simple things but for more intricate creations I definitely am glad the workshop is there. I haven't even loaded anything into the workshop yet and may not ever. I do feel like my overall zoo layouts are decent so I do ocassionally share pictures on social media site groups, and while I don't give direct credit for particular items I do try to mention when certain buildings are not my own builds. That's not to discredit anyone intentionally, it's more me just not being able to keep up with who's done what.

Is he dowloading then re-uploading your work? If so that's a form of creative plagiarism (but, there's no mechanism in the workshop process to claim ownership of items). In general, yes, it's polite to acknowledge that you're using someone else's work in your zoo or whatever, but it's not required. If it bothers you that someone might do so, then uploading your stuff might not be the best thing for you. There's no way to force anyone to credit/ not use/whatever, except social disaproval.

It's not, as the creations you make and upload to the Workshop are "licensed/copyrighted" to Frontier as stated in the EULA.

I do agree it's not a fair use of other people's content when you don't mention the use of other people's Blueprints.

This has been a discussion just shortly after release of Planet Coaster as well. I recall if you think this is an issue, you can contact Frontier Support for that to let them check the Workshop, but I think hardly anyone thought it's worth the effort, so it went quite after that initial thread.

What I am doing is trying to recreate Six Flags Great Escape. It’s a long process because the terrain in that park changes so much. I created every building myself with the exception of a little atm piece that was created by frontier games. I started to put my creations in the work shop but was waiting for my park to be finished before I uploaded the park itself. What actually irks me is that he uploaded a six flags great escape park up using what I put out with no mention of who created the buildings. To his credit he did a great job with the track layouts. Although who’s to say he did them himself. I guess the best solution is not to put my content out until I complete my project in full. Here’s a link to what I’ve been working on

Not that I have anything of interest for anyone (I don't build that good), but that is one of the reasons why I would never upload to the workshop. Unless you are a famous youtuber and most people would recognize when your work is used, it would bother me that a lot of people do not give credit. As it it basically all Frontiers propperty and nothing of the work you do is really your own, as far as I know. So no one can be "forced" to give credit unfortunately.

Oh, now that I see this: Wrong forum, I guess :) Although the workshop/the issue is the same in both games. Kinda. But maybe in the other forum the user sees that, feels called out and changes their behaviour?
