Newcomer / Intro Rescue from attacked stations

So... how do you rescue folks from the burning station without triggering the automated defenses or getting fines for trespassing.?

oh weird, ok, that works. thanks!
It gets weirder. The automated systems that stick you with fines or shoot you for bad parking are still running, but the staff at the Contacts office where you pay them off have evacuated and locked the office so you can't pay off any fines which means you can't rescue anyone while docked.

You can pay the fine at the local rescue ship.

But yeah, overall it's a werid mishmash of game mechanics. On the one hand super urgent evacuation, on the other require docking permission and get shot down for trying to land while explosions keep pushing you off your pad.. it's a conflict between the scenario writers vs the game being an "MMO" and trying to stop people disrupting other peoples' gameplay.

What would make marginally more sense is that you would need to buy a "rescue permit" or "salvage permit" from the rescue ship first, making you an official rescue and/or salvage craft, which then has automatic docking clearance. If you have the "rescue" permit you should then be able to land on any unoccupied pad of your ships' size. All suitable pads would be highlighted as you enter the station, just pick one.

Doesn't solve the ganking problem (could still have timers that if you violate the rules of the permits they will be revoked and the station and/or system authority vessels will take you out - although the salvaging should give reasonable time limits which then also give lots of time for gankers to interfere with others) but at least the scenario itself would be more believable. As for the gankers, just block them if you insist on playing these scenarios in open, so they're only a once-off problem.
