The Truth About NPC Crew Pilots

WE ARE bEInG RiPPEd OFF!

Having investigated the NPC Crew debacle at length a few conclusions come to mind.

1. They are on Full Pay 100% of the time, even when not on Active Duty....
2. They never ever appear in the cockpit....
3. SLF is Telepresence, the pilot is not in the SLF either...
4. That hiring 'photo' and text is the only thing we know about them....
5. No matter which ship I left them in or where, whenever I want them they are there already in the 'Crew Lounge' at the local station, what a co-incidence...

Conclusion:

The NPC Crew are never actually on board ship! They are sat at home using telepresence to connect to our ships! And charging us for Full Time hours! If they are good they can hire themselves out to 3 different Cmdrs in 3 different time-zones at the same time! How would we ever know? Its a huge rip-off and these something needs to be done immediately. The 'Crew Lounge' which we never see, is just another 'confirmer' to propagate and perpetuate the scam. We dont even know they are the people in the photos, they could be kids playing video games for all we know and our life is in their hands and their hands are in our wallets. I demand recompense from the Pilots Federation, I suggest a 66% rebate at least.

They use up a valuable slot and are crap even elite ones trained from novice to decrease % salary when elites reached are pants. Total rip off and waste of time. Guardian slfs all crap. Total pants!!@
Noobs do benefit from their paltry dps but!@ at the expense of credits. And rep?
Total pants fdevs!
Along with no bridge! And a sodding grappling hook!@

Most insidiously of all these kids steal your combat XP!

Their telepresence on-board is seemingly so distracting that it actually retards my rate combat progress.
Together we may destroy more enemies , but somehow I learn less from it. Kids!

1. They are on Full Pay 100% of the time, even when not on Active Duty....
They have to put their entire life on hold, just so they can be on standby in the possibly-unlikely event that you wish to call on them at a moment's notice. That's quite a sacrifice. Full pay seems reasonable to me. And if it didn't, well, I'm the fool that signed the contract of employment, aren't I? If they take what's rightfully theirs, I've got no cause for complaint.
2. They never ever appear in the cockpit....
They have their own control room, down in the also-never-seen crew quarters of your ship.
3. SLF is Telepresence, the pilot is not in the SLF either...
Correct.
4. That hiring 'photo' and text is the only thing we know about them....
Not true. We can also guess which part of human space they come from, based on their accent. The posh-sounding ones (with a "British" accent) are ex-Imperial.
5. No matter which ship I left them in or where, whenever I want them they are there already in the 'Crew Lounge' at the local station, what a co-incidence...
Crew that are active are flying with you aboard your ship. "Inactive crew" aren't just sitting around drinking expensive booze in the space-bar, they're following you around wherever you go. They're flying a heavily cloaked Asp Scout, which is why you never see them, even when they're landing right next to you. They don't like flying an Asp Scout, any more than you do... which is probably why their pay rate is so high.
The NPC Crew are never actually on board ship!
Until very recently, this was very obviously not true - because our crew always died when our ship exploded. We still have to pay a premium to resuscitate a dead crewmember, and only "Active" crew are killed.

My crew is pretty cheap if I avoid the big incomes, so how much does your crew cost ?

I would like to see NPCs in our cockpits. Technically speaking i don't see how it could be that hard to implement either. After all, we have our pilots in seats.

I'd also like to be able to customize their appearance and outfit via the holo me screen.

Their salaries are fine, don't care about that. I'm paying 12% for 3. 10% for my Elite and the other 2 are harmless taking 1% each. Credits are pretty meaningless these days anyway.

One of my wingmates only realized a couple of days ago -- when handing in bounties for the CG -- that she'd been feeding a useless NPC pilot for almost a year even though she wasn't even flying a ship with SLF anymore. Turns out that the NPC had leeched over 500 million over time. Everybody else had a good laugh. 😄

Ive had a thought that it could be worse than we think, maybe they arent teenagers with their quick reflexes but what f they are all old men who need glasses but arent wearing them and who wander off to put the kettle on at the wrong time or let the dog out and forget they are crewing my ship!

Credits are too 'common' to discuss such terms in, I prefer ships, mine has had 4 A rated Annies and a Beluga out of me so far and is working on the next, I think they want a Cutter next.

My SLF pilot talks to me. Along with my 3rd party Voice Attack plug in, she is the closest thing I get to a personalized RP experience in this game.

I agree with Aunt. Put them on the bridge, let us customize them.

C'mon FDEV - money waiting to be spent here. I would buy suits just for her, voices just for her, etc. etc.

On the other hand, you don't have to concern your self with getting covid from them.

Your CMDR also exists only as hologram, apparently.
There is the reason our symbols are hollow.... and why we magically "respawn" while loosing only recently acquired data....

Hmmm worrying - so my NPC could just be a duplicate of me?
