Well buddy it's been nice knowing you. o7I think it's more to do with him being Eastern European, his way of speaking English and accent rather than his demeanor and content quality. FDev don't want to be associated with that, they want coherent content creators who are easy to listen and relate to. Institutional racism of sorts.
Now I'm wondering if D2EA got the alpha key.

Welcome to the forum....
whilst I am on it, what about who is next? Maybe one of the cc's you engage with provkes the ire of Frontier? I watch most of them and am an avid listener of Lave radio ........what if they said something that a fdev employee took umbridge at and fresh from the adrenaline rush of sticking it to Yamiks they decided to get shirty? Of course you don't have to worry about any of that if the only opinions you want to hear are those that sing the praises of a game you love. Some folks need more than that though.
so that's one extra benefit of this thread.I have been playing since 2015 and this is the stupid thing that made me actually make a forum account!
Humor is certainly a matter of taste, but taste is individual, and I happily challenge anyone to prove that their taste is better than mine, because of curz, my taste is superior to anyone else. I also like Lewis Black, whom you would probably also find somewhat offensive. Imagine you speaking Norwegian. Do you think that might sound "terrible"? Or even funny to some? For many of us english is not our first language. Yamiks doesn't seem to care, which is a strong character in my book. Language is all about communicating information, and there are more than one way to do that. It's as simple as that, if we disregard the taste, and my challenge still stands. It's nothing personal, in my case. And certainly not a dislike of Eastern Europeans. I just hate his voice and the way he feels he has to emphasise every third word, which just ends up sounding like terrible English, while a lot of his cynicism is already expressed in his voice. There's nothing wrong with that in principle, but the success he seems to be having with it has turned it into a painful mannerism that almost makes me want to vomit sometimes. That's why I usually have to stop watching him after 5 minutes.
In my opinion, he would gain a lot (though no money) if he limited himself to the written word. The few times he has done that, he's suddenly not so "funny" at all. Instead, he comes across as a normal human being rather than a silly buffoon. But humour is obviously a matter of taste...
It's not really up to them though. It's the audience that determines who gets the most views/influence.I think Frontier are at liberty to define whom they consider core to their content creator base.
I do actually agree with this. The problem is the message they essentially conveyed to Yamicks is "you don't matter". It's really nothing to do with the access itself but it would have avoided situations like this altogether.Personally, I would have none of the influenzers have free keys - if they haven't bought alpha access already, then they're not that dedicated to streaming Elite![]()
That's one heck of a first post man. You raised more salt in your first post than I have in 3 yearsI have been playing since 2015 and this is the stupid thing that made me actually make a forum account!
It's entirely up to them though. They can decide that 'core content creators' means bringing certain qualities to their content rather than quantity of subscribers. It's not really up to them though. It's the audience that determines who gets the most views/influence.

Unless fdev flat out ban him from the game and get YT to take down his channel a la nintendo style they cannot control who the audience decides they want to watch. I realize in Fdev land they like to redefine terminology to whatever they want but outside of fdev land core creator means "big name content creators". Not "content creators we the company deem necessary".It's entirely up to them though. They can decide that 'core content creators' means bringing certain qualities to their content rather than quantity of subscribers.
Yamiks not mattering is entirely within the lore set out for all of us within the Elite universe![]()

It is not about the money. I am sure Yamiks can well afford to buy Alpha access. It is not even about Yamiks (for me at any rate). A third of the time he makes me laugh, a third maybe I agree with him and a third I think him way off the mark. However, I don't get to dictate what content he creates and nor, quite frankly do Frontier. I can watch it or not and mostly I do because I am not so fragile as to be unable to hear opinions that I might disagree with.
Whatever an individuals opinion with regard to Yamiks it cannot be denied that he is most definitely what my nephews and nieces refer to as an 'influencer'. You don't have to like it and Frontier don't have to like it but the fact remains that an 'influencer' is what he is. I think Frontier prefer the term 'core creator' but horses for courses and all that. Frontier do not get to choose (control obsessives that they are) who the community decides to engage with. We do .......and over 100k made that choice in Yamiks case.
That Frontier hide behind the most mealy mouthed statement I have ever seen is what annoys me more than anything. They obviously wanted to disrespect Yamiks. Well deserved some of you might say. If they, a supposedly professional company are so easily moved to pettiness because they don't appreciate the critique of certain youtubers then at least put on your big boy pants and say 'we don't like you, we don't like your content and we are not willing to engage with you. '
Anyone who has played this game for more than a minute know that is something Frontier would never do. They never made a single statement yet that they were not covered from June to Christmas lest they be held to it. It is precisely the reason that 7 days from Alpha (which they want you to BUY INTO) we still know next to nothing about it. Drip feed does not do it justice. It has been going on that long that anything they release has me bored to tears before they actually get around to releasing it. Anyway I digress .......
Frontier have an absolute right not to engage with Yamiks if they are miffed by him. It is not a good look for a company but they do have that right. However at least be honest about it and don't try to soft shoe around it. I will judge them for it as would, one assumes, others but at least I could respect that this was the hill they chose. As it stands I can't even respect them for that. ................. and whilst I am on it, what about who is next? Maybe one of the cc's you engage with provkes the ire of Frontier? Not trying to have a sparring match with you but he has 101,000 subscribers. That’s 1/5th of the monthly ED concurrent players supposedly and that’s just his subscribers not viewers. If you think that can’t have an impact you might want to go read the comments under his video. Better off to have given him a key.Fair enough. I'm just surprised that someone would specifically watch a Yamiks video in order to actually decide between buy/no-buy.
Ah well, if EDO will be a flop, at least we will know the reason then.
Given his content there's no guarantee those 101k people actually play the game any more. Not trying to have a sparring match with you but he has 101,000 subscribers. Steam limits pre-release keys for all games. Yamiks doesn't know that because he isnt a game journalist. Those guys did get a key though.I agree. The line about there being limited keys is pretty insulting, as it’s an artificial limit they’ve created, seemingly to exclude him. Moreover, given his time as a content creator, the number of contributions he’s made, and his significant viewer base, he should meet any criteria that would qualify a person as a core content creator.
If they don’t like his content and want to exclude him on that basis, it would be better if they said that directly. It wouldn’t be a good move in my opinion, but at least it would be honest.
