As it stands, just about every potential habitat reptile I see discussed would be our third tortoise, our third monitor, or our fourth crocodilian. And don't get me wrong, I'm not inherently against these or anything. I'm particularly rooting for the American alligator myself. But with iguanas and snakes, and obviously anything smaller, relegated to exhibits, I've been thinking... is there anything truly unique left that could end up in habitats?
The one I see thrown around the most is probably the alligator snapping turtle, but even that one doesn't seem to have much consensus about whether it'd be better suited for exhibits or habitats. It seems a bit large for exhibits, sure, but it also seems as it would be our most sedentary animal by a large margin if left in habitats. I'd really love to see it in habitats regardless, both because it'd be a relatively unique habitat animal, and because it looks really cool.
Beyond that, though? I'm completely stumped. I'd love to see marine iguanas but as best as I can tell they aren't kept in captivity.
