Long Way Home, what to pack?

Just drop the mining laser and equip a small pulse weapon to poke anomalies. Where you are going there is always the next star. Save the 2 ton. It is a nice story and all but really this happens only at the edge of the galaxy; not where you are going. You can also use the laser to shoot g4-5 mats from bio/geo signals and scoop them. The pusle can also be engineered for lower weight

Wouldn't a mining lance also work? If the OP had access to it.

The thing is, i will be going to beagle point via left side like is on the map in the first post. I don't know if its even possible, saw some people on twitch really struggling in the abyss with ships having 68ly ranges.
Now i kinda don't get it. I know i might not need mining laser, i will stock up raw materials in bubble, but;
  • can pulse laser mine?
  • can mining laser do damage? yes to those anomalies - i found lagrange cloud like week before, by mistake, but cant do anything exept scan it, i dont even tryed..
  • i can buy mining laser in worst case sceniario at flight carrier if i need to, looks like engineer laser not, atleast not with experimental effects, so i will do that atleast for an second ship
  • nope i dont have access to mining lance.. seems locked cause it can do both looks like

No a pulse laser can't mine. At least not anything efficient. You will see smoke and stuff when you try.

Yes a mining laser does damage, but you won't win a PvP using it.

No experimental effects except at the engineers themselves.

Mining lances are not worth it. They also have rather limited range. Go for a normal mining laser.

Yesterday I was playing around with an old plan I've been having for some time. To go from Shinrarta to Colonia without a fuel scoop. I'm not there yet (ready for take off), but it seems that it is possible. The thing is that when you jump, the amount of fuel increases somewhat exponentially, meaning that the last half of the jump uses way more fuel. On the other hand, if you only jump say 13 Ly per jump, in a Conda, you'll use practically no fuel whatsoever:

And yes, it's a very stupid idea, which is why I like it :alien:

The reason why I mention it, is that this also explains why running out of fuel, while possible, is not something people should be scared of.
It's doable.

people have gotten to beagle in a sidey and patience, anything else is optional. take with you whatever you feel taking with you but ... it can't be 2 ships, unless you have a fleet carrier to store one.

also, if you want to be left alone beagle point might not be the best option to set home, it is a tourist attraction after all. actually, distances are relative at this level: you might settle down on any system just beside or even inside the bubble and never be bothered by a human again.

then again the dbx is an excellent travel ship, can't get it wrong with it! safe journey!

Beagle is not going to be my home.
It's only like you describe, a tourist attraction, from my home somewhere, i don't know yet - home in The Conduit.

I want to have two ships only for, if i destroy my first ship by mistake or just noobing arround. And im very carefull person trust me. Thats 1/2 of the case. Second is it has slightly higher jump range than Krait - which is like "home ship" in nowhere (nowhere to dock) in the conduit. That simply mean it's better to travel arround.

No i don't have flight carrier, but i heared of possibility to go to flight carrier - then via shipyard have transfered second ship, and just hop into it and go to trip. I've been told i ll have to wait long time maybe a week, also pay alot for transfer.. roughly 3 times price of a ship. I will have access to DSSA flight carrier, nearest will be like 5kly from mine "home system". It has a shipyard, it should work.

Even for most it's the stupid idea just to go to 25kly to visit some place, extra 5-10 kly, just to swap ships. I get it and im aware of that.

well, i'd like to know if mining laser can do something to anomalies like described above

Being an alien in the game myself ("The Martian Ambassador"), I don't shoot at anomalies or thargoids. You know it's bad for diplomacy. I might bump into them for fun. I only met a couple of thargoids, after having spent what seems like half my real life in a spaceship, but they are pretty. So are some of the other life forms, so I mostly take pictures. :alien:

Some dude tells me that i should not rely on inara "nearest" carrier but dssa. At that time i dont know what is that, now i found EDasto map and there are 3 of them in conduit i want to use. That's my plan, without them my plan will be crippled. Can i rely on them?

Yes, you can rely on the DSSA carriers. Their entire purpose is to stay in one place and serve explorers.

Happy to hear that. Is there a way how to find out what exactly provides flight carrier in terms of outfitting? I just need to know what else attach to my ship, esp. first one, which will be transfered there.

I finished second test flight of a second ship. I was nearing the bubble and i found this place. Looks like someone destroys there his ship - big one, giant crater speaks for itself.

I checked it out, just for curiosity. If Krait can do that with its undersized thrusters, im step closer to set off right?
Looks like HD 148937 3 does not like alot of visitors, atleast not those who rush in one minute landing. Why even bother with them, billions years of creation invested is not equal to 5 minutes of landing, good for you giant planet.
I made it in one piece, 30minutes and one coffee investment seems equal for Krait and planet. I leave ship like it is, because it is possible.

May be cool place for you, but for me too many people there. However it's good to know i can somehow do that - no idea if i find something similar, but you can't tell.
If i find out similar place, i ll let you know - however it will be very far away.

This map:
shows where each DSSA FC is and it's facilities. If it has outfitting you will be able to transfer modules, so store anything you may need before you leave and then you can transfer it if necessary. Ship transfers over a long distance can cost tens of millions of Cr, so you need some money in the bank ;)

im not 100% able to tell, where can i find out?
I have those from human technology broker. They cheated on me, because at first i have done fsd engineering with Felicity.
Earthlings.
If you are docked, when in Outfitting you can examine the modifications to all your modules. If not docked, the modules tab allows you to look at each module including any mods. The human tech upgrade gives the max mass/range upgrade possible for the FSD. With FF you probably didn't quite manage that . It perhaps would have been better to store the already modified FSD and upgrade from scratch on another. That way you have one for another ship with the same size FSD (Asp, FAS Dropship etc), without having to move one back and forth between ships. ;)

I did that way.
Both of those better frameshift dives are in ships.
But im taking that one standardly engineered with me aswell. Noone knows when it comes handy to have it.
