The Malayan Tapir, it looks like a Baird's, you can see the mole on its face, the trunk isn't large and distinct and too short, the head isn't rounded, it has a hanging belly, it needs to be a relatively flat belly with wrinkling, an ascending back which turns into a small hump on the rump of the animal, and then just rounds down, and just make it look like this
Please fix it, don't give us cheap redos, actual, distinct animals, that is all we ask

I personally don't think the tapir is that bad. The minor tweaks you mentioned would be appreciated, but it's far from a deal-breaker as it is right now.
The binturong on the other hand is far more in need of a makeover in my opinion.

Exactly. The Malayan Tapir is PASSABLE, if not, good.
The Binturong has so much about it that caused controversy.
Hopefully they'll fix this one after the Binturong, as it's not that far off and would be an easier fix
I do hope they make some modifications to it, but this one's not so bad that it should be a priority. It definitely looks like a Malayan Tapir, even if in accurate. The Binturwrong* on the other hand, I couldn't have even known that was the animal represented if they hadn't told us and we didn't know the animal list.

Also thought that the Trunk looks weird. I hope it just looked wrong because of the Angle
I highly doubt the Malayan tapir gets a fix also. Frontier can’t fix animals every time they don’t fill someone’s expectations. Honestly the tapir is quite honestly just what it is a Malayan tapir. The binturong was a different story on the other hand. While the tapir may not be perfect it’s definitely more than good.
After giving the tapir a second look you can honestly see individuals vary one has a long slender snout the other a wider snout so technically you could argue there’s nothing wrong with frontiers version of this animal.

I thought the same thing when it was first revealed. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it is like in the game.
Can't say you're entirely wrong, but I'd say the fixes with the tapir are quite simple and easy, compared to the binturong. Trimming down on the belly, a more noticeable rear hump and a fuller look to the base of the snout and trunk, making the skull look rounder and thicker. These changes should be quite easy to implement, compared to the major overhaul to the binturong. The proposed changes wouldn't cause a lot of issues, if any, with the rig or animations either.
Considering even the Arctic wolf being distinctly different to the timber wolf, despite the two being the exact same species, I think better differentiation between the two tapirs is necessary. This isn't really a cause like the lion or bears where some people were just not pleased with the stylistic choices.
Either way, we'll have to see the animal in the game first, to be able to make a healthier assessment. It could just be an issue with the angle of the footage.
The tapir is in a weird gray area where it certainly could use some sprucing up but it also doesn't bother me enough to detract from my experience as it stands. It's certainly nowhere near the binturong's level. I think I'd rather Frontier allocate their time elsewhere, personally.
If they would adjust the Tapir they'd open the box of the Pandora and everyone and their dog would request a fix for any animal in game. Is the Tapir the best made animal in game? Nah. Does it still look good? Yes.
The Binturong was / is , as others have said, a totally different level. The quality basically shocked almost the whole community and would have at least hurt the reputation of the DLC.

Yeah, that would be more fair. It also looks like they both could be doing an animation.
I highly doubt if it doesn't look correctly on all aspects - they would change this.
Like Swjos said, they'd open Pandora's Box and you can find a lot of stuff "wrong" with other animals as well.
The Binturong discussion is a good one, imo the first time they really messed up.
I think it is too early to make a call. However if there are anatomical issues, even after seeing the animal in-game, any corrections would be appreciated on my end. There aren't many animals with major anatomical errors in the game as of now, with a few exceptions like the female saltwater crocodile, so I don't think fixing the few animals with anatomical errors would open a Pandora's box for people subjectively or cosmetically not happy with the way an animal looks.

The fur (too fluffy) on the Orangutan was mentioned by a few people
I think the Bengal tiger was mentioned early on (also too fluffy), but never heard that one again.
Incorrect sizes for some animals
A lot of people aren't bothered by it, but some are.
You mentioned the female saltwater croc - wouldn't even know what would be wrong with that one

That's why I wanted to differentiate between anatomical errors and cosmetic/stylistic choices and limitations. All issues with fur and fluffiness would fall in the latter category. Anatomical issues on the other hand, would be animals having wrong proportions with their skeletal or build in general. Size is entirely a separate topic, which is just numbers entered into the engine, and has no effect on the model shape. I think the general idea for most people = It looks different from what I've seen in RL zoos or when I compare it with a random photo from google.

I guess you mean this one? I was looking at it earlier today, it does look good, only the eyes are too clear I think.
I'd still have body issues with this version, tbh. Still no Binturong, but a racoon with rabies in my opinion.
