General / Off-Topic Imagine Star Wars with ED travel times LOL

There have been many good suggestions that will be ignored. The physical mechanics don't have to change either. For example. Get a mission at a base station on a planet, perform that mission at another base station on the SAME planet. Many planets already have multiple stations. Lower travel times could have lower payouts, so mission on the same planet are say 20,000, that's fair to the long haulers paying over 100k. I'm already an in-game billionaire so I would not mind taking less in payouts to have more mission time instead of travel time.

Maybe same-planet mission are a good reason to buy an SRV to drive to the mission location instead of Apex.
You can sort of do that solution already in the game by picking up as many missions as possible in the same area, to increase your travel-to-gameplay ratio. It's especially easy in the Odyssey alpha since we're stuck in a single system and there are twice as many nearby planets to land on now that light atmospheric have been introduced. You can do all that without leaving the primary star. 4-5 missions at a destination 3kLS away can give you about 5-10 minutes of total travel time, from the time you pick up the missions to the time you turn them in, and 20-30 minutes of tearing through NPCs and looting their settlements.

That's stacking missions, question: if I die, do all stacked missions fail?

Not everyone agreed, but everyone got the point without mind reading, the Apex travel times are THE MOST talked about subject in Odyssey across the net.

If I changed the title to "Imagine Star Wars with Odyssey's Apex travel times LOL" would you leave it there?

... However the point there is that it isn't that SC journey times are long, per se, it is the choice of system that F D plonked the Alpha in. I wonder if them picking a system where the third star was over 130,000ls from the main was to either stimulate this argument about having a faster mode of travel or if it was their intention to have you think about what blinkin' missions to accept.

I plump for the latter - those who plump for the former are just not engaging critical faculties. ;)

(Actually, thinking abut it, there probably wasn't any logic in F D choice of system, it was probably just their normal SNAFU.)

Current missions with Apex, yes. You're probably not as likely to die when the upgrades are introduced though. And with Frontline Solutions missions, we're told you'll respawn right back in the dropships so you can get right back to fighting in conflict zones
