Would you buy an Asian dlc that excluded tropical species?

I would probably want more specialized Asia packs to compliment the SEA pack. I think my top two choices would be:

Greater Asia Animals Pack
  • Przewalski's horse
  • Amur leopard
  • Raccoon dog
  • Chinese golden pheasant
  • Sichuan takin
  • Red-crowned crane
  • Golden/Sichuan snub-nosed monkey
  • Japanese or Chinese giant salamander

Indian Subcontinent Animals Pack
  • Lion-tailed macaque
  • Blackbuck
  • Markhor
  • Gray langur
  • Hoolock gibbon
  • Asiatic lion (Comes with a revamp of the male African lion model and has mane-less varieties)
  • Indian gray mongoose
  • King cobra or Indian spitting cobra
Side note, unfortunately the one animal I want from India currently has no way of being added, so I couldn't include it. That would be the Great hornbill.

Do I think it's likely we will get either of these packs? Honestly, probably not. But, eh, what the heck. A guy can dream, right?

add the Gaur to the Indian pack and the Serow, Musk Deer, or Saiga to the Greater Asia pack and it's perfect for me!

Don't know if I understand it correctly but why would only the Asiatic Lion have maneless Variations? 2 of the most famous man eating African Lions also where males without Manes

I would absolutely love it if they could add different Varieties of Manes. If not in Length, then at least in Color

It would be available for both, but it would be a much more common variation for the Asiatic lion, and rare in the West African lion.

From what I can tell they are. Ancient European lions, like cave lions, didn't have manes at all. I know there were lions in at least Greece and all of the Greek isles as recently as 4000ish years ago, and I don't believe those had pronounced manes either.
Do manes have a purpose for attracting mates? It’s interesting to see that drastic of sexual dimorphism form without a purpose. From what I know manes protect an animals neck but if lions developed it for that reason, why would only the males (on average) develop manes?

Male Lions with darker Manes are more successful. I think there’s also at least one known Case where a female Lion grew a Mane

Yea I've heard about the females that grew manes. It's very interesting they started to act like males

I would really like to see Eurasian DLC with animals mixed from both continents like red deer, lynx, ibex, raccoon dog...

Europe has a lot of animals, I tried to avoid the most popular endemic species to focus solely on Asia.

So that we could get a Europe pack eventually AND an Asia pack. Combining them is something I'm really really against. There's hundreds of animals missing from this game no need to combine regions.

Manes in lions are a result of testosterone, like body hair in humans (beards, chest hair, and so on - i.e. the bits women don't also have). Just like in humans, occasionally you'll end up with male lions who do not grow full manes (like how some human men can't grow full beards), or female lions that do grow sort-of manes (like how some human women may grow whiskers). It's all to do with hormones.

As for attracting mates, yes indeed, that is their primary function, as the bigger the mane, the more testosterone the lion has, which means it is likely bigger and stronger than other males, which means it is likely a better hunter/protector of the pride (ergo his genes are more valuable to the gene pool, as far as lions are concerned).

Thanks for the explanation! I love learning new things about animals

Yes indeed, they also live in every other continent, I’m glad you see that yourself.
There are no Iberian lynxes everywhere, or alpine ibexes, or European fallow deer, or scheltopusik, or chamois, or Scottish wildcats, or European badgers.

Of course, there are many animals in the game attributed to one continent but associated with others, such as the timber wolf, greater flamingo, reindeer, the white-faced capuchin, and so on.

Whatever, NZ has Chamois, Lynx, I prefer Caracal, I prefer Asian Deer, there are similar Ibex in Asia, badger? Rather see Ratels and Wolverines, American Badger looks better. The others are just reaching.

I personally prefer they don’t waste half a year on Europe when you have the rest of the world to choose from. It’s probably that I am European myself and see most European animals as nothing more than farm animals.
