Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

@AgonyAunt
are you going through the avatar-motions so we can vote on a popular keeper at an unspecified point in the future? I already have a couple I like very much, just waiting for you to settle down young grasshopper ^^

Hah, maybe you don't remember or weren't around, but i used to change avatars every few weeks.

However, my recent changes have been due to a) someone reporting my avatar and then b) someone politely asking me to change it for a bit of a different reason (and while it wasn't major for them i saw no reason not to).

Stream titles at the moment:
I did a bit of hauling in the Cat tonight for a change...with trading being broken and the game plagued by server 30k's for so long, the Cat has been a hangar decoration since the 3.10 patch.

Anyhoo, I enjoyed the change of pace even though hauler trading for the Cat owners is still mostly borked due to the stock not being regenerated properly or at all which means either running around all over the place to fill the thing up or just take what you can get from a single outlet and sell sometimes less than half loads which kinda defeats the purpose of bulk trading. I can still make an reasonable profit...but I can make far more comparitively risk free profit (no initial credit outlay) through mining at the end of the day, either in the ROC or the Prospector...The ROC still drags in the quickest and biggest profit by a large margin over the Prospector due to the materials being mined...raw gems as opposed to ores which need refining at the cost of both large amounts of time and a small amount of credits...refining isn't free, I suppose to offset the pure profit from mining.

Someone didn't like the Wolf flex?

Wing Commander was done this way because the involved Publisher already was invested and it was his money getting burned. Microsoft was trying to save what was left and that WC turned out to be a great game is thanks to THEM....not thanks to Chris Robert. Why would anybody whos aware of how things went down back then walk up to the table and take over at this point?
I think you mean Freelancer ;) Wing Commander was published by Warren Spector and entirely financed by Origin Systems.
And yeah after the Freelancer fiasco CRoberts is definitely black listed at Microsoft...

You know, things have actually reached the point now where they've become such a well known thing, that my go-to for explaining Star Citizen is now to compare it to NFTs, in that you pay obscene amounts of money for a link to a jpg of a spaceship that you can say you totally own, and people get it right away. :D
I am so happy CIG do not have to follow the whims of greedy publishers in how they shape their marketing strategy. This way they can avoid exploitative practices like FOMO and focus on building fair monetisation channels that foster the perception of great value customers receive for their ongoing support.

Most importantly, they do not have to design content around monetisation itself, and are free to do it in a way that maintains a cohesive relationship between content, gameplay, and the lore.

And get 4x the value as well which is just amazing. Nobody creaming money off the top just to line their own pockets. Every penny or cent goes straight into game development and not diverted into side projects or keeping to a budget or timeline to make sure its profitable to pay back shareholders. If CR was British hed have got a Knighthood by now for his contributions to the players and their welfare above all else. We can only hope they give him an honorary one, or perhaps the Medal of Freedom is more appropriate.

It truly is the future of gaming development. Those evil publishers will rue the day they demanded a release to market.

lol I’m quite sure he doesn’t care about those gamers that backed his game based on the premise that a pvp slider would be implemented in game... because after 8 years of waiting the only thing they are receiving is: We are not going to have anything player facing
