I wish the CG gave an engineered non-meta guardian weapon(not gauss).

The latest CG is giving participating players a C2 Gauss Cannon. This is unfortunate, because as most AX players know, Gauss is the only weapon used for serious Interceptor combat.

It would be great to see an AX CG that gave an engineered variant of the other guardian weapons. For example, an Efficient or Focused guardian plasma cannon, or a Shard Cannon with Sturdy.

That might actually change the way people fight thargoids a bit, as opposed to just unlocking the same way people have always done it.
 
Yeah imo the reward being something that pretty much everyone who even does Guardian stuff probably already has unlocked already is a really big meh. I would've preferred new tech, maybe something that lets you bring extra experiments or making a C3 gauss or something. But since I already have C2 gauss and it's not engineered in any way, simply do not care
 
I mean, there's vague things hinted at which might come after the current CG, but nothing specific... if there was something specific i might be more motivated.
 
There's still a lot to be desired in balancing guardian weapons for sure, yet engineering non-meta ones would only be a bandaid, I'd prefer if Fdev actually took a look at them + guardian modules for rebalancing, also vs. human ships. Then we could make engineering for all guardian weps a reality.
 
I hope this CG reaches 100% because I fully expect us to get some new guardian tech based on the description. I’m almost certain the real reward from this CG will be revealed later so get collecting people!

If I had to guess, I’d say it might be a point defence that can shoot down Thargons.
 
Just give more Synergy bonus for outfitting Guardian stuffs (set bonus) that negate some of their more severe downsides or introduce chassis that are specifically designed for Guardian arms (Guardian hybrid ship ?).
Something like : Distro + Power plant + Guardian = -10% or -15% heat generation +10% recharge rate

Wouldn't make the plasma charger any more use than a spitball.
 
Gimballed AX weapons - specifically MultiCannons. And ideally that work against human ships too.
 
For my Epic Alt that had no guardian stuff unlocked, this came in nicely.
I had him unlocked 6 modules and 3 weapons (small gauss, medium and large shard cannon) and waiting for the medium gauss to be unlocked by the CG.

My other 2 accounts did not take part into it

Now, i just hope there is a follow up for this CG - new tech, new stories...
The last incarnation was pretty disappointing (Bridging the Gap) especially considering that getting guardian materials from USS was such a flop (although the advanced dumbfires kinda compensates)
 
Does anyone know how to claim the guardian cannon? I went to Alexandria to claim my prize, only 20 million credits were credited but I do not know where the guardian cannon is, I looked for it in the store but it does not appear
 
Throwing even more unbalanced weapons at the problem of unbalanced weapons is not going to help. Not to mention the issues for players who aren't able to participate in a given CG, and permanently fall behind in the power creep.
This CG was an opportunity for new players/alts to catch up with less grind than would usually be required to unlock a bunch of Guardian tech. If that's not you, then you could sit this one out, or fight for the scoreboard. Not every CG can be targeted at everyone.

you mean MORE grind - ignoring the commodities and going strictly for pylons and blueprints (but still getting materials) is way faster.

For example i ferried 126tons.
To get those i did 9 full runs (getting 6 module blueprints and 3 weapon blueprints) plus about 2 half+ runs (picking about half of the commodities and not going for pylons & blueprints at all) and in the end i unlocked 6 modules and 3 weapons.
But if i had used the same amount of time but skipping the CG commodities - i would had unlocked all modules, all weapons (instead of 3) and probably 1-2 fighters too

So whoever thought the CG will ease the grind got kinda shafted (did anyone actually?)
