Problems docking to a station 2021

Writing this post for posterity sake

Yes, I am within required distance and yes it is has appropriate sized pads (checked with mk1 eyeball and info within the game) and they were not being used by NPCs. I have tried to dock both in solo and open. My ship, Krait II, was in tip top shape.

I waited for 20 minutes before I finally was allowed to dock. I have experianced this enough times to be frustrated enough to make a user on these forums and post about it (aka this is not related to a single system or station). I suspect it is tied to some state which needs to reset in code tied to a timer.
I am writing this for people who may read about this online and use google to see if this is just something that affect them.

some connections to amazon ecs servers for some reason are just bags of fun it seems
glad I ain't you, never waited more than 3 mins on an outpost before I see the larger pad normally its pad 3 or 5 for some reason vacate,
then I request again and park up.
as for a Coriolis etc cant rem the last time if ever I waited?

Never had to wait that long (in solo - Open can be someone having their tea). just approach the NPC that is docked and re-ask a few times and they get the hint and move on within a minute or two.

1. You know that even if they are in the hangar the pad is not available for use.

2. If you approach close enough your sensors will detect a ship in a hangar.

3. Switch to solo / PG / Open - whatever you like - gives you a new instance with less chance of pad being in use already - I have NEVER found changing modes leaves pad still occupied.

4. Find a witch / wizard and get them to lift whatever curse it is that has befallen you. ;)

All of these had been tried out and as mentioned in original post switching between open and solo has not helped me.

Much as this will work - I never bother now. I go look at the NPC, and request a couple of times when close to the pad, and have never seen one refuse to move.

Or even more reliable - fly a small ship - I've never even had a pad blocker in a small ship :)

Someone in the DD cesspit the other day decided that they would use what they called "Texas Etiquette" - they shot the offending ship with a quick laser burst to nudge them into moving - paid the fine after docking. (May have not been a NPC hogging the pad though.)
